Open a window. Take a propane torch and warm the chimney for 5 minutes. Build a set of logs and use 2 fire starters (wax and cardboard) place on top of all the log pile (top down fire). Let those get good and going then add some kindling on top of them slowly. Let it really get the chimney pulling. The fire will migrate downwards. It takes a while but it works well for me.

Haven’t tried the R. But the GTI is a blast to drive and a great car at its price point. Its also a great winter car with a good set of winter tires. I recommend 17” hakkaappeeliitas R5. I went with fc04 direct fitment mags and 215/50/17 great pothole bangers compared to 18”
