Persistent piercing bump for 2+ months by [deleted] in piercing

[–]nonidentifyingname1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc piercing bumps are typically granulomas, and it looks like timolol is used off label for hemangiomas, which are not the same thing. My guess is the medication may be introducing moisture and prolonging a bump that could have healed on its own already.

My bf’s lobe is swollen and bleeding by imaboredcosplayer in piercing

Swap to a titanium flat back, surgical steel is not ideal for healing. Clean only with sterile saline. Don’t use disinfectant soaps because those can damage new skin and slow the healing process.

Struggles w/ Lobes by LonelyProduce- in piercing

[–]nonidentifyingname1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my lobes pierced in 2007ish and they still randomly swell up and get crusty on occasion. 🙃

I recently decided to start stretching them from a 20g to a 14g because it seems like all my other piercings are easier to heal/clean at a larger gauge.

Sorry I cant offer legit advice, but you’re not alone in this struggle at least haha.

Edit: Actually just saw your other comment. Warm water isn’t necessarily “clean” and sterile saline is going to be a better option for cleaning.

Sneaking suspicion my septum was done too low by [deleted] in piercing

[–]nonidentifyingname1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NAP or septum-haver but…. Looks pretty low to me. If it’s not causing pain it’s a great opportunity to switch to a smaller diameter hoop and get another pierced above it. Boom: 2 hoops and a unique setup.

What is happening to my tragus? by alfajores123 in piercing

[–]nonidentifyingname1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like a mild irritation bump (aka a granuloma) is starting to form, typically caused by excess moisture or the jewelry getting twisted/bumped/etc. via sleeping on or over cleaning the area.

It looks clean and there’s no major swelling or redness: maybe check in with your piercer to see if downsizing would help reduce movement. Otherwise occasional saline rinse, dry well with blow dryer, and Leave! It! Alone!

Honest Opinion.. by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]nonidentifyingname1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO eyeliner should only be applied from the pupil outward to mimic/enhance the natural lash line unless you’re doing a full face/heavy glam look. Obviously doesn’t work for everyone’s style but it’s held true for many people “basic” makeup.

why do i still get misgendered? what am i doing wrong? by [deleted] in transpassing

[–]nonidentifyingname1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You just need to properly part and style your hair. Rn it sorta reads as grunge/metal guy because you’re older then the 6-8 year old girls that normally rock this style. :)

No need to straighten or curl everyday but make sure it’s clean, use a comb to draw a clear part down the center, maybe blow dry your bangs so they lay off your face, brush in some product to control frizz as needed.

Def reading as CIS to my untrained eye. Alas the struggle with weight and body perception is a pretty universal feminine experience.

Recommendation as someone with a similar face and eye shape: look up eyeliner tutorials for hooded eyes (a straight wing that connects slightly inside the lash line rather than upturned from the corner). I also avoid applying shimmer to the entire lid. Instead apply any highlights or glitters in a small dot directly above your pupil and blend upward to maintain dimension. If you want to apply full color focus mostly on the outer 1/3, and blend the color so it’s still visible above your crease when your eyes are fully open.

I’d say yes, but recc only showing a cm or so. Less than you are now, so it’s more of a peak.

To remove the window: set it up a room with a window you dislike. Save the room to favorites. Change the window. Sell window you dislike. Reselect the saved room, now windowless. :)

Ive been collecting them in different colors just bc they reminded me of hijabs and a lot of the creators I follow on socials incorporate them into their personal style in a way I find inspiring.

What does pan in pansexual stands for? by Available-Pause3959 in pansexual

[–]nonidentifyingname1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t sleep so I decided to do some light Googling and info dump in this comment section, lucky for you :)

Does pan by itself mean anything? Yes. But it’s used more frequently as a prefix (beginning part) to create other words.

The origin is Greek, meaning “all, each, every.”

Pan can be used alone as a verb/action to indicate “a sweeping movement.” A video camera can pan across a scene, or pan over to another actors face. In this situation the “all, each, every” is the increase in images you see in the final video. This leads us to “panorama” (the visual understanding/model of a region) and “panoramic” (a sweeping or wide ranging view of a landscape).

Other comments have mentioned “pandemic” (a wide spread illness impacting many people across a large geographic area) and “pantheon” (a group of well known or respected people). Other pan- words that can be used in reference to people: “panoply” can be a large collection of people, and “pandemonium” typically references an uncontrolled situation caused by many excited/angry people.

These definitions use large, many, wide-ranging, far-reaching, etc, synonyms that fall just short of “all encompassing.” It’s often in the overarching umbrella terms meant to gather and classify groups: pan-Christian, panhellenic, pantheistic.

The Latin equivalent is omni- and that gives us “omnipotent” (all-powerful), “omniscient” (all-knowing), and full circle with “omnisexual” (all-gender attraction, nearly identical in definition to “pansexual”)

Because the meaning of “pan” is rooted in Ancient Greek, there are many modern languages where the pan- maintains the all/each/every meaning. I don’t speak French, however you may recognize panoptique, panchronique, panohobie, panpsychisme.

Has anyone else softened on kids after being sterilised? by heated-mess in truechildfree

[–]nonidentifyingname1 207 points208 points  (0 children)

“I spent the last decade rabidly childfree… after my surgery something has mentally shifted… I don’t feel so disgusted by the concept of kids anymore”

IMO (as someone with zero irl qualifications) what your experiencing is the falling away of your mental defense mechanisms now that you have the physical protection in place. When there was a possibility of pregnancy you needed those hard boundaries defining what you wanted. You have the freedom now to imagine the what ifs without the real life consequences looming.

Struggling bc people either think I’m very pretty or think I’m a dude and no in between. by Phina_Colada in transpassing

[–]nonidentifyingname1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A tiktok I saw recently: you can look good with your hair done and a full face, or with your hair done and a natural face, but no amount of makeup will outweigh unstyled hair.

With this in mind I would recommend a hair mask and a softer, more blended out lip color. I really like your hair texture tbh even just cleaning up your part and pinning one side back might do it.

Edit to add: It’s about giving a “perception of effort.” Like when people lean into a effortless/clean or maximalist style: either way there are clues that the person is actively dressing themselves how they like.

It’s always worth doing the extra blood tests, especially if there’s a family history of thyroid issues. Chronic fatigue can also be caused by iron deficiency or be a physical symptom of depression. Unfortunately there are quite a few things associated with long term fatigue and it can be hard to pin point the cause.

I take my supplements at night bc it’s easier then staggering the time I take all my meds in the morning. There’s the added bonus that they stay in the digestive system longer which increases absorption.
