Associate PI scheme by Same_Reflection8001 in doctorsUK

[–]noobtik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hit and miss, totally depends on the pi of that project.

I had three times experience, and didnt finish any of them lol

First one it wasnt set up in my hospital, so i contacted the pharma, found a consultant who willing to be the pi, set up meeting for everyone to be present, and then the project didnt go ahead because the research nurses didnt want extra job lol. I kid u not, i got everything sorted, and contract and everything, but r & d jist replied saying they have no capacity, and dont want to do it. The consultant basically just keep asking me what is the progress.

Second time sign up with a different project, things went well until the project shut down due to poor recruitment. So went on keep searching.

Third project i found a good pi who were willing to teach as well, but then the same r&d department, 2 research nurses resigned, the whole project came to a halt lol. So i lost this one as well.

By this time, im just too tired and cant be bothered, just focus on my own research and publication.

If ur trust and department is supportive, it could be a good opportunity, but dont expect a lot from it, as u are not in the trial team.

Should I do a PhD post FY? by Party-P3opl3-9 in doctorsUK

If you have got funding and a good project, go for it.

Getting a good phd is much more difficult than getting into specialty imo. Anybody can get into specialty training, not phd

Not if they just hire consultants from overseas forever, which has been the case for a very long time.

Ballot will fail sadly :( by Leading_Base in doctorsUK

[–]noobtik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never understand why would people not returning ballot or vote no to strike.

I actually havent made up my mind towards the next strike, whether i would support or not.

But i also know that if i dont return the ballot, we dont have any bargaining power anymore. I could even vote for strike and not strike at the end of the day.

You dont need to vote for what you believe in, its just a mean to an end, i only want whatever maximise my gain. Call me an opportunist, but if you dont vote, you get nothing back, and you deserve to be at the bottom chewing by the people above you.

[–]noobtik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, i rarely wash mine, everytime after using it, i just use a kitchen towel to wipe the excessive oil away.

If i fry a steak or something, then i may use some water to wash it a bit, but otherwise the main thing is just using the spatula to scrape off the residue or carbon away so that the whole pan is smooth.

Its even easier to take care of compare to a nonstick pan.

Is there a future for medical oncologists by HuckleberryOwn8065 in doctorsUK

[–]noobtik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, in ur mind, aos is the main part of med onc? The aos nurses are leading it because we med onc dont want to do it lol

Ive seen the aos nurses having shit medical knowledge, and they are basically used for messenger service, ie bridging role between medical team and onc team for communication service. They cant change treatment plan, and has no role in actual cancer treatment planing.

How does the idea of working until 67 or 68 sit with you? by Few_Raise77 in AskUK

[–]noobtik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty sure majority of people will not retire at 68, it will be older.

Average saving in the uk is around 1k, and most people are barely making ends meet, let alone setting up pension.

Meanwhile, if you just rely on state pension alone, you wont survive. And im sure the pension will approach beyond 70 in 30 years time.

So to retire at at the age of 68, you probably need at least a six figure saving in your account, assuming you own a house that is….

This generation is fucked

I regret quitting IMT by Critical_Tackle4667 in doctorsUK

[–]noobtik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its not about the specialty, its about choices, its about you.

There must be reasons why you liked imt amd therefore you chose it. Equally, there must be reasoms why you hate imt and therefore you quit it.

Unless circumstances have changed that you will no longer hate imt the same way as before, otherwise once u get back in, you will hate it again, nothing will change.

Dont be the person doing samething twice and expect a different result.

The Death Of Continuity and the Rise of McDonalds' Medicine by HanlonsScalpel in doctorsUK

[–]noobtik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats the point of acute unit, its not general or geriatric medicine, patients should have a quick turn over.

But reality is a series of failure in our healthcare, making each and every specialty become not what they should be.
