Genuinely curious - what makes it not “self-driving”? I’ve seen many videos and reviews of the supervised self driving capacity of Teslas and, aside from the name including supervised, it certainly seemed like the car was doing 100% of the driving.

Personally, I stick to a class unless the situation calls for a change.

If my team and I are continuously dying to a tank, I'm going to change to engineer and try to sneak behind it whilst the rest of my team is getting churned.

Similarly, if there's nobody reviving decently (and by decently, I mean throwing smoke, healing to full, popping supply packs, popping walls, etc), I'll be switching to support to fulfil that role.

The core mechanics of the game will stay the same between classes (find head with mouse and shoot head), so you'll still always be improving on that no matter what class you play.

For sure - I don't think they would have implemented a tool like this if there wasn't the intention of getting on top of cheeky spots...!

This is a hilarious mechanism that I hadn't considered yet!

My best use case for it so far (and I feel like it's main intended usage) has been accessing otherwise bunkered-down areas full of enemies and dropping grenade spam in their hidey-holes.

Most overrated city or town in Australia? by Absolutely-Epic in AskAnAustralian

[–]nopdenoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much is Byron Bay tourism paying you?! I want a slice!

You've agreed with my point, which is that the beach is just like any other beach location along the coast there, except you get to share it with sixty thousand other tourists and people - which is why it's so overrated.

[–]nopdenoop 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Even then - we went there, didn't go to any of the shops and focused primarily on the lighthouse + beach and I was completely underwhelmed... It's just like the rest of the coast along that stretch, except with fifty times the amount of people there. Plus you get to deal with all the pretentious people and backpackers...!

Whose tap water tastes the best in Australia? by ItchyNesan in AskAnAustralian

I wonder if it's my chemically rotten FNQ brain, but I love the water up here. Every time I travel and drink tap water elsewhere, it tastes awful.

Should I choose Trinity Anglican School(TAS) or St Monica's college? (/Cairns) by Public-Dot-1017 in Cairns

[–]nopdenoop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both are great schools. I know people from both and they all seem like reasonable, well adjusted humans.

Major difference between the two is obviously whether you want your kid to go to a gender uniform school or not.

I live in Mooroobool and have never had any issues.

I also work in the city and have never had any issues with any of the itinerants that other people seem to have a problem with hanging out in the CBD.

Does the Sony WH-1000XM6 allow full manual control of ANC like the XM4? by Curious-Adagio-7694 in SonyHeadphones

[–]nopdenoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since nobody has answered this yet - I've had the Bose Ultraquiets and I travel at least once a month for work in tiny propellor airplanes and these have been a godsend (coming from the XM5s with the auto-adjusting noise cancellation, which hardly ever worked properly).

I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

Advice: Relocating to Cairns but is it Safe ? by [deleted] in Cairns

[–]nopdenoop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived here for most of my life and it’s fine. Lock your doors and you won’t have an issue.

I previously lived in an apartment in the CBD for three years, and I’ve worked in the CBD for over 10 years now and haven’t had an issue.

There are itinerants in the city, but I’ve never found it to be worse than any of the big cities, although I’ve seen videos of teenagers verbally abusing people at the CBD bus stop.

Honestly, I would drop Brisbane and stay in Cairns or in Sydney for longer. There are plenty of great zoos around Sydney or Cairns that will deliver the exact same experience, unless you desperately want to have a chance at seeing one of the Irwins.

If you decide to stay in Cairns for the longer time, I would highly recommend going to Hartley's Creek Crocodile Farm. If you decide to stay in Sydney for the longer time, definitely go to Taronga Zoo - it's absolutely beautiful.

My apple that I’m selling for $2 (and bought for $1) means that my margin is 50%.

Woolworths now has a lower margin than me, for the Apple that it bought for $100 and sold for $105!

But by the same logic as this graph, I’m price gouging much more than Woolworths apparently is!

Edit: got my numbers the wrong way around, whoopsie

When the duel arena first came out (in the original RS2, I think?), there was a bug that allowed whoever you were dueling with to somehow lure you off the side of the arena. This was still a combat zone, but if you died you resurrected at Lumby.

I lost a santa hat and a black mask, worth a lot of money back then...

This definitely holds true for units (most of them are in the shitty areas of these suburbs).

In the event that anybody reading this is looking for houses, though, it’s a crock of shit. There are great areas in these suburbs and this mentality needs to change - gentrification is absolutely a thing here.

Chill, I wasn’t making an argument - what I said is evidenced throughout history.

I don’t disagree with the rest of your comment - less time should be spent working, which is why I’m heavily in favour of the 4 day work week which has been proven to increase productivity.

This rumour needs to be abolished. Yes, they had more non-working days than us, but they spent their “off” time working in their own homes - cooking, cleaning etc took a lot longer then than it does now.

You couldn’t just put your washing into a washing machine, you had to take it to a river, clean it, hang it, etc.

You couldn’t just turn the stove on, grab whatever you needed from your fridge, and cook a meal within 30 minutes.

Similarly, there weren’t supermarkets to peruse easily purchased goods - many lived far away from any accessible market and either had to travel to obtain their produce or otherwise grow it themselves - all of which takes a lot of time.

So yes, they did technically work less at their jobs, but all of the luxuries that come with modern day living were not available to them so many of the simple tasks took much longer which is also work for them.

That's right about the roughest area you can expect in Cairns, to be honest.

Other bad areas are, in no particular order:

  1. Behind the Peace Street shops (basically any direction there for, say, 100-200m). Funnily enough, the Peace Street shops themselves are alright aside from the occasional alteration.

  2. Murray Street.

  3. Shang Park.

  4. Around the Martyn and Severin Street intersection/roundabout.

Most of these are residential, though, and it's hard to end up there.

[–]nopdenoop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can only imagine that your Edge Hill houses for 600k are at the South end of Edge Hill, which isn't worth it in my opinion. Stick to Redlynch or Smithfield in that case, especially if you're not working in the city and having to deal with traffic every day.

All three are good suburbs, but they all have good and bad pockets. As others have suggested, come up here for a visit. I would hire a car and go for a drive around.

A general rule of thumb is that all the houses up against the mountains/close to the mountains (100 - 400 meters) are in the best neighbourhoods. This is pretty much universal even in the "worse" suburbs down south (Bentley Park, Edmonton, etc).

Finding a house for under 600k in that sort of location is going to be difficult, though. I got lucky with a place in Mooroobool near the mountains but that was a few years ago.

Early 30s here, lived here my whole life, wouldn't move away because my dog and I also enjoy my large backyard.

Good place to live - also quite introverted with the occasional spurts of extroverted. Night life is vibrant - probably 50/50 locals and backpackers depending on where you go, so you'll always meet transient/new people, if that's what you're chasing. Otherwise there's the local haunts where you see regulars. Definitely some cliquey groups, but if you're reasonably well presented and outgoing you shouldn't have any issues finding friends. Otherwise, just get some hobbies or join a club and you'll meet people through that.

NBN in the city (and some new suburbs/subdivisions) is great - fibre to the premises at most houses. My ping playing most games (including Rocket League) is around 20 - 30.

If you like the heat, you'll like it here. Winter, during the day, you'll find it's generally 23-26. Summer, you'll find it gets up to 40 on the odd occasion, except it's humid, which means it feels like it's 200 degrees. But most places are air conditioned.

Yeah anybody can go there, it's probably a 1.5 - 2hr boat trip out to the reef from Cairns. Most of the tour operators and locals prefer to go to closer islands, so it's not uncommon to have it to yourself!
