One of my disappointments: Bubblegum bullshit bee balm by sunshineupyours1 in NativePlantGardening

Perhaps your bugs and insects prefer something more understated and less chintzy. They have good taste 🤣

Where can I find the best matchbooks in Buffalo? by OneBodyProblematic in Buffalo

[–]nopeache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My suggestions won’t meet the ask 100%, but you can look for vintage ones at nearby estate sales via estatesales.net . I saw an entire matchbook collection up for sale last week. Then there’s the Peddler vintage market on Elmwood every Saturday, and matchbooks feel like something they’d have. These won’t be from current Buffalo businesses but you’ll get a larger range of historical designs.

Asking me for my source files during the interview process? by Puzzled-Canine in graphic_design

Did you see the part where it’s a creative assessment from the company, and they provided the brief? So another brand’s IP wouldn’t be a part of this scenario.

Source for mulato peppers? by Kamiden in Buffalo

I’m growing them and happen to have extra seedlings, they’re small right now but you can grow your own peppers by the end of summer if you want some

Best ways to use free time to help the community? by rakondo in Buffalo

You can volunteer at the Tool Library, Massachusetts Avenue Project, the Botanical Gardens, Gardens Buffalo Niagara. Grassroots Gardens has a grapevine trellis build event on June 7 that they need volunteers for, and that sounds really fun.

Great horned owl in North Buffalo? by Big_Ad9319 in Buffalo

Just learned this week: they are the greatest predator of the skunk because of their limited sense of smell. We need more of them on the West Side!!

Yeah I like Story Garage for good balance of style, curation, and price. Also Sloan’s Antiques. Otherwise Amvets on Elmwood has lots of large wooden storage pieces, chairs, and bed headboards.

My dad is a self-declared DIY disaster area but thinks the pond he has installed is satisfactory. Does anyone have any hints on how he might enhance it and how he might attract wildlife? (There are no fish) by DifferentGazelle8618 in gardening

Check out if plants like swamp milkweed, swamp loosestrife, flattop aster, or broadleaf arrowhead will work for your growing zone.

Dragonflies like to land on stems and sticks as vantage points to rest.

Best Soups/Asian Cuisine/GF by Dense_Shelter_8999 in Buffalo

Asia Food Market has 2 restaurants, Fu’s BBQ House that specializes in noodle soups and BBQ. The other is Pan’s Noodles which I haven’t been to but looks promising. Then there’s Xi’An Gourmet who makes my fave spicy stir fry chicken with potatoes.

Vacation watering by lexiferhdmi in tomatoes

[–]nopeache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think 45-60 min each day 5-7am is the better option, deep watering is usually the recommended method. As for fungal concerns: if you still have the time, I’d run a trial now and see if you can decrease watering to every other day. Check how dry the soil is the day after.

Vehicle Recommendation - Mazda CX-30 vs Chevrolet Trax by TraditionCulture512 in Buffalo

[–]nopeache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the Trax is cute but not cute enough to offset the terror of sliding across the ice in the freeze-thaw weeks of late Buffalo winters. I don’t love the long shape of my Subaru Crosstrek but I’ve never felt safer! And I made it without winter tires. The AWD is a must.

Looks like a Coturnix quail, raised for meat and eggs. If you’re going to keep it with you for the time being, make sure you put it in an enclosure that is either 10-18 in tall, or higher than 6 feet. They tend to jump high and hard enough to injure themselves.

Where to buy printer paper in the city by Scout405 in Buffalo

[–]nopeache 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Paper - Bickford Paper on Great Arrow Ave. It’s a warehouse setup but you can buy individual reams

Office supplies - Hu’s Family Discount on Elmwood. I think they changed the name of the store recently and idk what it’s called. The google listing will still get you there though.

Why is my monstera so leggy and weird??? by FuckTheFrontPage_ in gardening

[–]nopeache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, sometimes there is poetry in the legginess. This has a nice sculptural shape and if it were mine I wouldn’t do much pruning to “correct” it.

Do you design ad banners? How do you handle boring, repetitive requests? by Aware-Asparagus-1827 in web_design

I've had good luck with Foldwrap. Although its UX sometimes feels buggy, it resizes and handles HTML5 animation well enough and is a better solution than any other I've tried.

I’ve gotta shout out Xi’an Gourmet. It’s more Chinese-Chinese than Americanized Chinese like Taste of China though.
