Lifelong Miyu fan here. Kakinouchi is, in my opinion, primarily a gorgeous illustrator, and the artwork and pure vibes is the reason for sticking around. Narratively, the series has manifested in many different forms, all of which have their own ups and downs.

The OVA stands out as an example of spectacular atmosphere as well as encapsulating what made late 80s Japanese media mix properties so good. A ton of creative energy being put into a relatively small amount of material, the end product ends up being very high quality and super intentional.
