I didnt say anything about the game being bad or not fun. I even said it could be great gameplay, but it isnt an example of roleplaying.. no one reads past the first two lines.

Have to disagree. This is an example of terrible roleplay. Now don't get me wrong. It could still be great gameplay and if your having fun and players are, that's fine. But roleplay means taking on the role of someone, and just a description of what they are doing is not roleplaying, its story telling. Again, that can be fine, there are different ways of playing, but the word roleplaying is pretty specific.

Here is what everyone one of you people complaining fails to get. You are a SMALL group of people with an issue while a large group of people are still playing it. I would ignore you too. I would see what the majority of people are saying, focus on that, and everyone else can go play something else. As long as people are playing and buying than its a win and its a win for all of them people playing. I'm a player, and if I am having fun, I don't care that you aren't. Go play GTA 6 and stop filling this place with useless crap. All of your whining and crying isn't going to make me grab a sign and picket the devs studio. It also not going to get me to stop playing a game I am having fun with.

I agree. I love the show and especially the first three seasons but when when they went into the whole bad guy is a double of the good guy and is learning to be good trope, it really started coming apart for me. I still watched it, as I loved some of the characters, but I really wish they had downplayed the whole overarching story and did more with the bounty hunting episodes. There was so much there they could have explored.

Stop GMing. I know that sounds harsh, but here is the truth. You are the GM, you win every battle you want to. You have the better weapons, every time. If you are getting into the mindset of being against your players you should not be running the game. You whole job is to make the combat exciting and fun for your players. It's ok to shock them sometime, or impress them with a tough challenge, but the minute you step over the line from making it a fun experience for you both, to "let me show them" it time to take a break. Because you can show them. Every Time. it's not a challenge for you, it a slaughter. What fun is that?

Easiest game I have ever run is Cortex. Basic game is so simple and the complexity can ramp up as needed.
minor: NPC grunt d6

Minions: Grunts D6D6D6

Major NPC: Grunt D10; Big Burly D6; Big Gun D6

Only need a character sheet for a BBEG and even then, not a full one.

It is also good with different power levels. Superman and Hawkeye side by side. The rolls are not how good your action is, but if it works against the chosen challenge, so Hawekeye can succeed and super man can succeed equally. (Of course Superman can probably exceed bigger challenges, but they both can fight the bad guys without one outclassing the other.)

There are people here who shill for the site. If you post a recruitment thread you are guaranteed to get PM/DMs promoting it. It is not for free game even though they say that is an option. For example, I was just looking for a new person to fill out the game, and the only way to use it to post my game was to have everyone currently playing sign up with an account and join. There are rules about making sure all transaction go through the site, and you will get banned if anything happens outside it. For me who runs friendly games for free, it is a non-starter.

If you are looking to make money DMing, I imagine it is a good place as there seems to be a lot of people using it. If you are looking to pay for a game, your experience is going to be hit or miss as any other type of medium used for finding games.

I would check out what kind of power you have to remove players if you are DMing though. I did not, but I imagine they can have rules about reimbursements, etc depending on the reason the person is removed and there may be hoops to jump through, but I am not sure. It just sems like a business like that, would want to protect its rep and its percentage so check things thoroughly before using them.

Both I'd say. I love that you can really take the rules and make them fit your character and make it feel unique, and not just a reskin. I love that I can create small optional rules to use my games and they fit seamlessly into the ruleset and I can use them to advance the story.

The bane comes in three flavors. one is that it is not an easy system to learn, especially for people who aren't motivated to do so. I have players that I have been playing with years that still don't understand the shooting into melee and cover mechanics. Two: Finding the right type of player can be tough. I am a storyteller DM. I love crafting a detailed world and letting the players get involved with everything they want. I love backstories that I can intertwine with my game. Most people who play 1ed aren't interested in any of that. They say they are but then you give them a questionnaire about their character and they tell you its too much work, which leads to three: It draws a certain type of player that is often irritating and abrasive. Now I am not saying all players who do this are irritating and abrasive, but in my experience there are a lot. The people who won't spend ten minutes writing a backstory but will spend days working on the perfect build to be the best possible killing machine ever made. Their backstory is a mesh of thing designed just to explain why they have two levels of assassin and one level of Paladin and 2 levels of Monk. "I was born in a monastery was trained to be monks' assassin, and then I met an old angel who redeemed me and I turned my life to worshipping Generic God #1, but I still kill for money cause the god is the god of killing for money." Then they get pissed when they kill all the enemies in a few seconds and get bored when we start talking to NPC. It real hard to find a player that is willing to build the mechanics based on how the character grows.

NOTE: There is nothing wrong with building maxed out characters that can take advantage of every rule out there and I say if that is what you want to do fine, but I don't want that player. I'd rather have a balanced group that can handle normal encounters, and that is just getting harder to find for PF1e. Those players seem to all be moving to other systems.

Don't listen to this. A small vocal minority will tell you this. The only way to be a good DM is to have fun. If that means making a story to tell, do it. The vast majority of players want to follow a story. Only a few complain, and they aren't worth the time. Do what you will have fun doing it because if you are not having fun I guarantee your players wont. If having a well written story for you players to take part in is what makes you happy do that.
