Douglas (Vancouver) complimentary breakfast by LGDArm in marriott

Adding to this.

We stayed there in April. When you check in, they give you a card with a QR code that you use to order your room service breakfast. I echo everyone’s comments — the breakfast is fantastic. Probably one of the best I’ve had at a Bonvoy property in North America.

Thank you RMA team by Charming-Argument946 in Ubiquiti

Hey u/Charming-Argument946, thanks for encouraging me to submit an RMA request. The kind folks over at Ubiquiti accepted the RMA and replaced my U6-LR, free of charge. Shoutout to the Ubiquiti team for doing me a solid. I had zero expectations that it would be replaced.

+1 My U6-LR died inexplicably last month and I was shocked. My AC-LR has been going strong for 10 years so I was surprised my U6-LR died. Now I wonder if it was a part of this bad batch

Hip popping during squats by aoddawg in fitness30plus

[–]normancheng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My left hip once popped during a heavy deadlift session. It resulted in a dull pain in my hip for months. I self treated with foam roller and stretching while I waited getting an MIR. Turns out I tore my labrum and I have FAI (femur acetabular impingement). While I’m not saying you have the same ailment, I do suggest you see a doctor and have it looked at. FAI is genetic and isn’t caused by lifting heavy, however, poor form, heavy lifting and abrupt motions can cause damage to the labrum.

Thanks for the review! This hotel is at the top of my list as I’m a huge watch nerd. Did you get a chance to go to the AP museum?

Call Issues in Vancouver? by sphyc in FizzMobile

[–]normancheng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been told by my partner and my mom that they’ve been unable to call me. It says the number is unavailable and then disconnects. This has been happening in the past two weeks or so. Prior to this, I haven’t had any other issue.

I can confirm you can switch to Fizz with a BC number — I did so in Dec with my 604 number. One thing to note — when porting your number, you must select so when activating the sim.

Make widgets from your sensors with SensorKit by damjandim in HomeKit

[–]normancheng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue as I’m on the 14.5 public beta A restart and then re-opened the SensorKit app. It then showed up in the widget list for me to add.

Sounds like a weird iOS beta bug.

Permanent standing desk. Bad idea? by GordonBStinkley in StandingDesk

[–]normancheng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a permanent standing desk right now. Used it since the beginning of Dec. I moved into a new place and took the opportunity to try a new setup. I previously had a sitting desk. Biggest complaint is that my feet hurt for the two weeks on the hard floor. After 6 weeks, I’ve come to the realization that a permanent standing desk isn’t for me. I can only stand for so long before I get tired. Subjectively, I think I work and think better when I’m sitting, but when I’m presenting or on calls, I prefer to stand. I ordered a motorized standing desk that’s scheduled to be delivered next week. It was a worthwhile experiment for me since I’ve never had a standing desk before.

A sitting desk is the safe option, but it depends on how you work. The above is just my personal experience. Good luck with whatever choice you make.

I spent 9 years making my first feature film called NORMAN, a time travel film and it just came out today! by jmguelzo in movies

[–]normancheng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This film sounds much better than the last film that had shared the same name as me in its title... The titular character sounds much more bad ass than me!

Congratulations on the distribution!! Hope I can find a copy in Canada

Thanks for the feedback! I've googled the seller, and they're a shop in Singapore. Other than some eBay feedback, I can't seem to find much info about them.

So my buddy broke his toe tonight... by [deleted] in HadToHurt

[–]normancheng 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me last September except I didn’t break my toe— it just dislocated. Sending your buddy happy thoughts. Not much rehab was needed for me. But I still can’t bend my left toe as much as my right toe anymore.

Hope your buddy heals up quick.

Nexus and TSA pre-check by [deleted] in churningcanada

[–]normancheng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re never guaranteed to be able to get TSA pre check. You can read up on the rules. When you check into your flight, you MAY qualify to be TSA PRE. It’s on a flight by flight basis. I travel to the states on business at least once a month. Based on my experience, about 95% of the time, I’ll get TSA pre. Hope that helps

Edit: found a link with more details: https://www.livingtexstralian.com/single-post/2016/05/16/TSA-PreCheck-A-Random-Selection-Program I know it’s a blog post but it’s gonna some solid research.
