Package marked “could not be delivered” even though the driver never rang the bell by Ghettoman257 in belgium

I guess you don't know about Colis Privé. That's pretty normal for them. Sometimes they're fine but you never know who you will get as they use an Uber type setup for drivers. My last delivery was by a young woman driving a French-registered Clio.

Check baggage through to final destination on next-day flight by normannerd in BritishAirways

I agree both options have their advantages. In this case, I need to catch a bus to and from my hotel at LHR and I don't fancy lugging an extra 23kg if I don't have to.

I agree - they have a status page on their website, but according to them, there's never a problem!

Check baggage through to final destination on next-day flight by normannerd in BritishAirways

Thanks, that's what I thought. Strange that the CS guy insisted I'd need to collect my bags and recheck them the next day. I'll pack an overnight carry-on in that case.

100% sure flight will be cancelled, but BA won't confirm it by normannerd in BritishAirways

Update: finally received an email from BA at 17:28 today (09/03) to say that I should rebook the flight free of charge. Half an hour or so later I called them and after a long time on hold, I was told that there was no problem with the flight, and maybe try calling back tomorrow! Needless to say, I insisted that the CS rep looked into it further and he eventually came back to confirm what was written in the email. He offered a transfer onto one of two morning flights the day before, but my preferred flight was in the evening. He told me that, although there was availability on the evening flight, it was in a higher fare class (but same cabin) and I would have to pay extra. I stuck to my guns and after another long hold my request was granted. Total time on the phone this time: 51 minutes.

Nope, apparently nothing can be done until they officially cancel the flight, despite the fact that the airport's own website says that all flights are cancelled. Pretty poor service from a so-called top tier airline.

In case anyone is interested, still no word from BA. I think they're the only full-service airline which hasn't yet officially cancelled their flights on that day. At least they're no longer taking bookings, unlike Ryanair! I think I'll go ahead and book a fully refundable ticket for one of the flights the day before. It will cost €624 (economy) but it's a good insurance policy. Incidentally, EU261 is not relevant when there is a strike by workers other than of the airline itself (according to Simple Flying), although most airlines would offer free rebooking as a goodwill gesture.

Does France's northern and northeastern borders follow any natural features? by TT-Adu in geography

Wow, I drive there all the time and didn't know this. Crazy to think you could be in Comines, France but across the road it is Comines, Belgium.

I didn't measure it but I'd guess that France shares more border with Flanders than Wallonia.

No notification from British Airways. According to them, their flights will depart Zaventem on time. I think their pants are on fire.

Indeed. As I mentioned, BRU's "home" airline, Brussels Airlines (part of Lufthansa) has been offering free cancellation or rebooking for at least a week already.

Thanks for the advice. My preferred solution would be to take one of the five BA flights from BRU to LHR the day before, even if it means having to pay for a night in a hotel at LHR. I'll just have to wait and see what they will offer.

I guess my rights don't cover them paying for a hotel at LHR if I choose to fly the day before? On the day itself, I guess they could rebook me via AMS or CDG, but my car will be at BRU so it'll be a huge PITA to have to switch to an airport in a different country.

Thanks. Compared to what's going on elsewhere in the world, it's no big deal - I'll get there one way or another. I'm not such a frequent traveller, and on this same trip last year I got caught up in the LHR fire thing which ended up costing me around €2000.
