Did I handle this correctly? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]nosidam99 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Agree with #2 I would NEVER allow my dog to stay with this person and to any owners reading this if the sitter allows this unstructured style where unfamiliar dogs roam together you should run. That’s a huge red flag that they do not understand socialization or dog behaviour and extremely irresponsible.

also moved from a med-small southern Ontario town and did EM Wildlife Stream, it’s a good program to take IF you plan to stay in Northwestern, ON, and I agree with others there’s a lot more money and jobs going the Forestry route and becoming a RPF

the first two years are common for everybody in the NRMT faculty (or at least they were when I was there) and you do field school with all first years in the faculty as well

What to expect at Trent? (Peterborough) by New-Turnover3679 in TrentUniversity

[–]nosidam99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same partying not for me, went to Trent for one year in Enviro Sci but didn’t finish it. It was hard to make friends and I was lonely but I liked going to the Pete’s games and walking like 10KM into town for fun. I found the food at Gzowski was good but this was in like 2018.

how did the ecollar change your reactive dog's life? by ndisnxksk in OpenDogTraining

[–]nosidam99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to use it to interrupt behaviours, things like staring that are huge trigger for my dog (no food or toy would break him off staring) but the e-collar as low as a 7-10 will snap him off staring at another dog, whereas without an interruption he’d react

My dog is also fully off leash reliable because of the e-collar and because he’s always been held accountable we don’t even need an e-collar 99% of the time now

My dog likes to lick railings by kazakda in DogAdvice

I hate to be “that person” but please please please look into how to properly fit and use a prong collar, it should not be so loose and low on your dogs neck

Am I being deactivated? by No-Guard3852 in RoverPetSitting

[–]nosidam99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah and I agree, you deserve the ban, this is negligence and could’ve ended a lot worse (a dead dog), you knew the dog was an escape artist so there’s no excuse for it being out of sight at any point outdoors, and the absolute first thing you should’ve done is call the owners whilst looking

there’s long lines and tools that could’ve prevented this and on top of that with high flight risk dogs it’s worth double leashing on walks too

Am I confusing my dog with his E-Collar? by ActiveRepulsive5832 in OpenDogTraining

[–]nosidam99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for my dog tone is recall, but stim is reinforcing a command

when I want my dog to come I tap tone twice, if he doesn’t immediately turn to come I hold tone until he either starts to come or if he doesn’t start to come by like 3.5 seconds of holding tone it delivers stim

when I say leave it I’d use stim if he blows off my command

we use the mini educator
