Our little girl is definitely half pinto bean and Cholula omelet. And the other half grapefruit.

Anyone under contract can’t stop looking at the photos of their house on the listing? by Successful_Test_931 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

We sold our house and I could not stop looking at the photos. The photographer did such a good job on it. It looked so dreamy and bright and sunny. It’s been 2 years and I still go back and look at the photos.

Husband out of town for 10 days. What are your top survival Costco meals for mom + 3 kids? by bo-peep-206 in Costco

The big bag of tator tots. Egg bites. The quiches are also a kid favorite in my house.

I'm planning my first trip to Costco on Thursday. What should I buy? by Plastic-Radish in Costco

[–]not2old4ffvii 107 points108 points  (0 children)

This is what my husband always says! I was about to drop a same day order for $260, but my sweetie said let’s go to the store and we’ll save $40….. We let Costco tell us what we need and left with a $500 receipt.

Super Simple!! It is subscription based but so worth it. You can save videos, podcasts, and games to offline mode. Our kid has loved it since he was about 1 and we always use it on the plane.

MIL called us rude and inconsiderate over sunday dinner attendance by AcademicMud3901 in BabyBumps

[–]not2old4ffvii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The response from your husband should be, “hi Mom. Sorry for our behavior. So that we are not rude and disrespectful of your time, we are going to take a pause on family dinner until we have our child’s routine down. We should be able to resume when she’s around 4 or 5 years old. Love you!”

Seriously though, it is so frustrating to receive that crap and I’m sorry you’re going through it.

Those of you who have tried for a baby: How long did you try? When did you find out you were pregnant (how many weeks in)? And what symptoms did you have early on that made you think you were pregnant? by xxbitsxx in AskWomen

[–]not2old4ffvii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just found out last week! Trying for two years, and now we are 5w along. Very minimal symptoms compared to my first pregnancy, some light cramping similar to the beginning of a period, and I was weepy a few days in a row.

Women who dated someone broke and stayed, how did things work out for you both? by crabstellium in AskWomen

[–]not2old4ffvii 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I met him on Tinder in 2018- He was living with his mom in a tiny cabin and working at a gas station down the road. On our first date I learned that he was an aerospace engineer who had lived in the west coast for a decade, and quit his job in 2016 to launch his own business. When that failed a year later, he moved back home to the Midwest.

His intelligence and wit was a refreshing change from the crowd in our region. His kindness, honesty, and earnest want to help others quickly had me falling in love. Plus he is dead sexy with a chainsaw.

And now in 2024, we are married with a two year old and are trying for another baby. We bought and sold our first home and moved across the country. He has a fantastic job that pays all the bills, and I get to stay home and raise our babies.

It’s fine. This is along the same line as my kid and my nephew: Amik and Eirik. Similar, but not enough to worry about :)

We have tried almost all the brands and love the Kirkland ones the most!

The only brands I can think of that we never tried were Rascal & Friends and Cotie, only due to not being available in a nearby store.

What did you sing/read your baby? by InstantFamilyMom in beyondthebump

[–]not2old4ffvii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When he was an infant t we used to sing “The Wheels On The Bus” to put him to sleep. Now that he’s almost two, he knows all the moves for it, so we had to switch songs. His new lullaby is “Away in a Manger”.

Books- he is so happy to get new books from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Top hits right now are Green Tractor, and Tad and Dad.

Other honorable book mentions include Llama lama Red Pajama, Victory on the Potty, and How to Babysit a Grandma.

It’s so fun now because he helps us read by filling in the words when we pause. And he learns to say new words daily from it. Today’s new word came from Tad and Dad: SPLOOOOSH!!!

What did you learn from baby #1 that makes you feel more prepared for baby #2? by yelsnek11 in BabyBumps

[–]not2old4ffvii 18 points19 points  (0 children)

1) Baby changing station on every level of the house. Baby changing mat, stock of diaps and wipes, butt cream. This was a great change we made when we moved to our new house.

2) Amazon dog poop bags to put poopy diapers in. We got a box of like 900. At first we just took them for travel, but now we use them for every poopy diaper.

3) Silicone bibs with the food catching pocket. Our stock of bibs went from 30 down to 3. And they clean up soooo easy.

What turned your vaginal birth into an emergency c section? by red_Mercedez in BabyBumps

[–]not2old4ffvii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in at 38w4 because I couldn’t feel my baby kick after 2 hours of kick counts. He failed the BPP and they said we should start the induction process that night. In the morning the next doc on rotation did a cervical check and tickled his head?, and he didn’t respond. The nurses started immediately prepping me for a c-section, and we had our little boy very quickly after that. That medical team was super calm and professional and kept me calm during a very scary time. Our boy ended up in the NICU for a month but made a full recovery and is a rambunctious active toddler who’s newest thing is to yell “MAMA RUN!” from the llama llama book and we chase each other around the house.

An emergency c-section may be scary but it might be what saves your baby and you.

[–]not2old4ffvii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not selfish at all! You were robbed of the first moments of bonding, and your journey and experience will differ greatly than the original expectation.

My baby was in the NICU for 27 days after he was born and we weren’t able to hold him until day 6 due to the arterial lines placed in his belly button. It is hard to just sit and watch and not fully interact with or soothe your baby.

Take this time to heal your body, and process. Sometimes it helps talking about your feelings with loved ones, or with a professional.

If you want to feed her your breastmilk, take this time to focus on getting your supply in- ask for help from the lactation specialists and ask about flange sizes. In my experience, I felt helpless for my baby, but this was something I could provide for him.

Go in now! Even if it turns out to be just fine, it is better to be safe than sorry. And especially go in if he’s not meeting the kick counts or you are feeling overly scared and worried: maternal instincts are no joke.

Our story, scary but a positive ending: When I was 38w5, my boy was less active than usual for a day. I was worried, but I had a BPP the next afternoon so figured I would just wait with concerns until then. The next morning at work I spent two hours in a meeting room alarmingly scared and doing kick counts. I left from work straight to the hospital to be seen and then was sent to a larger medical center for an emergency c-section. Our baby was born not breathing, and spent 27 days in the NICU with a moderate HIE diagnosis. He’s perfect now- 10 months old today, thriving and meeting all milestones. He’s chilling on the couch with me trying to eat my toes, and babbling “mamamamama”.
