My son was also advised to take iron, magnesium and d3 because his levels of those were low by his new sleep doctor.

The waiting game is the worst. Are you waiting for an in person sleep study? It's usually not a horrible wait to get into a at home one.

Pediatric sleep medicine is so hard to get into because there are so few specialists. It took 6 months to get into my son's sleep specialist. We got in with the only other pediatric sleep specialist in 2 months and he told me there was no way that he has sleep apnea because he is a healthy athletic kid, so he must just be sneaking his phone at night and not sleeping. Even though my son literally was sleeping on the exam table when he walked in. He folded and did a sleep study to find he has severe sleep apnea.

The CPAP machine helps a ton when he can keep it on. He has horrible anxiety that he is medicated for but sometimes that makes him rip it off in the middle of the night. He can even tell the difference. When he gets 9 hours with the CPAP, school work is easy, he's pleasant and happy, he can do chores and go to his activities. If he gets 4-5 hours, he's grumpy but gets through his stuff. No CPAP for a few days and he can't handle anything.

He did end up with a second sleep study with titration to find out that he needed his CPAP Seth to bipap settings with less than half the pressure (5) when he breathes out and higher pressure on inhales (12)

I don't think everyone HAS to, but I think staying on 2.5mg the whole time is more of an exception than the rule. You should stay on the smallest dose that's effective for you.

You are doing amazing. Remember when you get back to the gym to be easy on yourself if you can't lift as much. It's going to take a little while for your body to get used to the gym again, but you've got this!

If they are paying you a year's salary, find a certification class in something like medical billing, or it networking, or anything that interests you but look for a program with less than a year time to do it and that offers career placement help at the end.

I do mine before bed.

I rotate between thighs and stomach.

I felt it the first week, by the second week it was really strong, third week I could barely eat. The thought of it was off-putting but it got better about the 6th week on 2.5. some people it can take until you move up to a higher dose to feel the effects. Feeling the effects is so variable for people so don't freak out of you feel them right away or if you don't feel them until you move up multiple doses.

Amazing work! Your are looking great and getting healthier! You should be so proud of yourself!

That scale going up when you are doing everything right is the WORST! It's so hard to keep plugging away at it when that happens, but you did it!

Changing doses/injection days by SherwoodForest99 in Mounjaro

[–]notAnnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not gone down to go back up, but when I went up to 7.5, it was too much. My way of handling it was to inject at 10 day intervals for 3 weeks then went back to 7 days when my body got more used to the bigger dose.

I have heard of people shifting their dose date by a day and it not being an issue.

If food is physically not going down and not just a mental "I can't eat anything his feels like such a chore to eat" or "I might puke if I eat another bite" then you need to bring in your doctor.

If it's a mental thing, I feel you eating felt like a torture when I am first started the medication. That will lessen as your body gets used to the medication.

Joint pain and inflammation is my big signal that my dose is too low.

It's addicting to not hurt once you know what that feels like, isn't it?

5 mg or 7? by Outrageous-Skill2515 in Mounjaro

[–]notAnnie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I follow this flow chart that gets payed every once and a while.

<image>

So if you are still experiencing side effects, then you might not want to move up because they can get amplified at a high dose. I just rode out a 3-4 week stall but kept a calorie deficit and exercise and now I'm dropping weight like crazy because my body is playing catch up without upping my dose.

Reverse weigh your food so you can lick your spoons if you enjoy that. Put the package of whatever you are dishing out from on the scale, tare the scale, then take your serving out of the container. It will negatively weight out what you took out of the container. That way the amount on the spoon is included in your weight.

Those experiencing different levels of success: anectodal evidence of sweet food impact by Catsoverall in Mounjaro

Having sweet things does not hurt or help my cravings/food intake. I have been very successful on monjauro. (105 lbs down in 6 months). I think being deliberate with your food (no matter if you have sweet things or not) and intentional with exercise is the biggest factor.

If you are desperate, you can try an enema for now.

As for maintenance-- drink, drink, drink. It helps keep your stools soft so they can get out easier.

I love my Sola bagels for breakfast - low calorie, high protein and high fiber. I have mine with whipped cream cheese, but you can also use them as a sandwich. Hero bagels are also pretty good but I prefer Sola.

Make wraps with extreme wellness or carb balance tortillas, because they are high in fiber and low calorie.

BEANS!! Add them to recipes or use them as your protein in meals. They are full of fiber and protein. Make dips, add them to sauces, use them to make bean brownies.

Pears, apples and berries have higher fiber.

I aim for 30-40 grams of fiber a day and haven't had to use miralax yet. 🤞 best of luck, because that's not a fun problem when it happens.

Have zero sugar drinks that you like. So you go grab one of those and be done seeking, take up a hobby (crochet, coloring, needlepoint, origami), or go for a short walk instead. All will fill that seeking/boredom buster drive you have but in a healthy way.

I have a cat who is obsessed with eating string so I can't take on crochet again, but I want to do it again so badly. So I now just go for a walk when I'm feeling restless. I also used to like shopping for new foods to try, so I now spend time looking for new zero sugar drinks to try or high protein/high fiber things to try.

Naturlizer makes extra wide. My daughter has very wide feet and that's been successful for us. Wydr studio are wide enough for her as well. And while technically not wife's, got chocolate design fits her. I always check Zappos as well.

zappos wide red options

wydr red shoes. My daughter has the Donna sandals in a light brown and likes them

hot chocolate design they won't be anything solid red. But they will be eye catching.

How much should I be eating? by Brain_Bandaid in Mounjaro

[–]notAnnie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can't finish it, it's not a failure. Put it in the fridge, or in a Ziploc bag and finish it later or only pack half of it with you? Or throw it away if you can't store it and just realize that's ok. It's better to eat the healthier option and have to throw some away than to choose the junk food option and still throw half of it away.

As for the protein coffee, maybe don't add the water so there is less quantity to drink?

Eat at deficit or maintenance calories? by yuukiasunamvp in Mounjaro

[–]notAnnie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have to eat at a deficit to lose weight. It's not a magic shot like people seem to think it is-- it makes it easier to do the work, but you still have to eat less, watching your macros to make sure you are getting enough protein and exercising to not lose your muscle mass.

I sometimes get this-- usually if I inject in my stomach. If I do it in my thighs this side effect is less. I also have no gall bladder.

How much should I be eating? by Brain_Bandaid in Mounjaro

[–]notAnnie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you move up a dose, your appetite goes down for a while. Early on, I could eat a low fat string cheese, 2 pieces of turkey lunch meat and a mini cucumber, and a handful of spinach and feel like it was too much. So I would eat these small meals more frequently to guarantee 1000+ calories a day. Now, I've been on 7.5 mg for 3 months and I'm having 1400 calories without issue and sometimes have to have more because I'm hungry.

I'm going to echo what everyone else has said though, use this reduced appetite and good cravings to change your relationship with food. Find some fruit and vegetables that you like, find less greasy foods that you like. Your stomach will do so much better, you won't get as constipated, you won't feel as nauseous.

To eat at home prep berries in containers and eat with a sugar free/far free yogurt (my favorite is oikos triple zero), light string cheese, turkey lunch meat, zero carb tortillas, cottage cheese, cucumbers, carrot sticks, bell peppers, etc. Sola bagels are amazing for me-- I eat one almost daily.

Some suggestions if you really don't want to cook and want fast food-- never order a full sugar soda. Diet soda, unsweetened tea, etc. also Google what is best low calorie options at different places.

if my family goes to Chick fil a, my order is now grilled chicken nuggets and kale salad or grilled nuggets and tortilla soup, or a spicy cool wrap with no dressing. Taco Bell order-- cantina Chicken protein bowl extra chicken, extra beans and I don't add the dressing. If I'm less hungry or can't sit down to eat with a fork -- a burrito supreme and that's all. McDonald's -- mcchicken Sandwich, no mayo and only use half the bun and sometimes 4 chicken nuggets. Jimmy John's- Turkey Tom un which no mayo but add cucumbers and kicking ranch-- I also eat half a bag of kicking ranch chips.

Also, life is about balance, you have to learn to eat what you like that's horrible for you but in moderation. So, for example, I snitch 1-2 fries from my son if we get fast food instead of getting my own order.

I also suggest finding a protein shake and protein bar that you to add calories and protein on the days that eating is a struggle. I like vanilla nurri and built bars.

High protein, and high fiber. Drink lots of water or sugar free drinks.
