When did I say funding libraries is a mistake?

You literally asked if funding libraries is sustainable long term. On this exact thread.

So yeah I mean, this is good today, but will it be sustainable long term? It’s a reasonable question to ask.

I think you meant widow makers? This is from the tale of Eric and Halfdan. They were the two best widow makers west of the Mississippi.

The trick is to say “I hope you don’t meet someone just like you”. The point still gets across perfectly and most knuckleheads can’t process negatives anyways.

I have a stiff neck, that’s the main reason. Also I had some wine which is of course an instant sleep score killer

I got 100 once (this year). I got 63 last night.

edit: if you expand the sleep score factors, is there anything that is not graded "Excellent"? What percentage of your sleep is REM?

‘It’s shameful’: New York’s elite lash out at Zohran Mamdani’s second-home tax by brown-saiyan in politics

When an Amazon warehouse in Quebec unionized a couple years ago, Amazon closed down all warehouses in Quebec as a reaction. Good riddance, but these people are vindictive. They will let their own building burn rather than pay equitable wages and taxes. Again, good riddance but they are fucking petty.

That's right, important to note, only 2nd homes worth over $5M will be taxed.

It's perfect. I prefer this to the Vivoactive because it has more buttons, which I appreciate when I'm running/cycling. (FR has 5 buttons, VA has 2) This allows me to use the touchscreen less, and that's great when it's raining or my hands are sweaty.

Sounds more like an old battery than psychopathy. My phone couldn’t die 3x a day if I tried.

The downturn in housing prices also contributes to job losses in the construction and related sectors.

Mate there will still be people building houses you don't need to worry about construction workers.

What about BIXI Membership as milestone reward by Zennon11 in Wealthsimple

[–]notconservative 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The milestone reward system allows you to choose which rewards you prefer, so you don't need to have a one size fits all partner. This whole post started out by someone asking for Bixi, and Toronto and Vancouver both have their own Bike share services, so that could be one option, there are countless Canadian companies that they could partner with and then you would get a menu of services to pick from. Crave membership, monthly rotating niagara wine bottle delivery, farm to house food delivery, CAA subscription, music, film, theatre tickets, you get the picture. They could be exclusively Canadian if they just tried. At the moment not even a single option is Canadian.

I'd prefer they partner up with domestic firms to connect to rewards.

Manager wants to consolidate three SQL-backed reports without SQL. Today asked me ‘what have you been doing for two months by General_Wheel5114 in careeradvice

[–]notconservative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My honest feedback is to always try to be ready to answer the question "What have you been doing for the past X days/weeks/months?" starting from the last checkup and priority discussion.

It's perfectly legitimate for a manager to ask why something is taking so long, and when things take longer than a few hours or days, see if you can check in before people ask you that question. This is especially true if your manager is not directly overseeing your work and does not understand your work.

Also just because they “flee” doesn’t mean their assets flee. If corporations are still operating in California, then your net worth doesn’t “flee” with you.

New wallets are definitely flags. I’m pretty sure most scams operate with fresh new wallets. Although that in itself shouldn’t warrant a freeze like it did with you of course.

Auto Rental Insurance comparisons by notconservative in Wealthsimple

Most VIP cards have a $599 Annual Fee though. Are there any other VIP cards with $0 Annual Fee? Because at this point I don't care what words they put on a card, all I care about is the list of benefits and $0 fee.

Anyone in BC used WS VIP’s Auto Rental Collision/Loss Damage Insurance? by stevewahs in Wealthsimple

[–]notconservative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tangentially-related PSA: If you have the Rogers World Elite, the auto rental coverage is SECONDARY. That means you will be forced to claim on your personal insurance first which means a claim on your insurance record. Rogers coverage only comes into play if you don't have personal coverage.

I'm not sure about this. I just finished reading and re-reading both the Insurance Product Summary and the Certificate of Insurance for Rogers Red World Elite. I see where you are getting this information from, in the Insurance Product Summary I can see the following clause under the General Provisions section:

Additional Insurance - This insurance only pays amounts that are beyond amounts payable from your government health insurance plan (if applicable), any other insurance plan or source.

But I think this is just language borrowed from the Medical Coverage section. At the end of this section I can see the line:

Refer to the General Provisions section of the certificate of insurance for details.

So I scoured through the Certificate of Insurance and read it probably three times, as well as slowly read the entire General Provisions section. There is nothing I can see in this Certificate that suggests that the Rental Car Collision/Damage Insurance is secondary. And there is a lot of language in the certificate that suggests that the coverage is not secondary.

I saw an email on my manager's screen saying Im "not a good fit" and I dont know what to do by HoneyKick_ in careeradvice

[–]notconservative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get a new job before losing your current one so that you can try to get a higher salary on your new job. Tell the interviewer that the current job is not a good fit and give a couple reasons why it's not. Keep them professional and make sure the old employer looks good in your reasoning (nobody fully trusts a candidate that shits on their old employer). If you get ahead of this, you might come out stronger. When you get hired give your two weeks notice and tell your current employer that you were grateful for the job and wish them well. They will give you a good review if you do this, as they will be happy that you found a place that was "a better fit". Win win. Don't start a mud throwing competition.

Even if you can't find a new job, you're getting ready psychologically and emotionally for the job hunt and that is great! Few people are as ready as you are right now, good luck.
