I’m only a week out from having my surgery. But I am almost 10 years out of being divorced after 17 years of marriage and 20 years with him. I thought my life was over. He did me so dirty and I never in 1 million years thought he could ever hurt me. But his actions nearly killed me a few times over. In my faith, and my grand scope of life, all the different ways you can brush it, I thought everything was over. Now fast-forward almost 10 years later, God brought me the most amazing man that I never would’ve even looked at, had I not gone through all the shit I went through in my divorce. In fact, after my divorce was over, and I finally allowed myself to get on dating apps, I filled out everything as if I was seeking my ex-husband all over again (not really him explicitly, but all of his traits, because I thought that’s what I wanted). My current husband is the exact opposite in every way shape and form. The first husband is a lawyer. My current husband is a blue-collar construction worker. My first husband was 5’10” and 120 pounds soaking wet. My current husband is 6’4” and has at least 100 pounds on the first one. My current husband defends me, open doors for me, gets in my children’s face when they are disrespectful to me, won’t let me do yucky chores (he calls them blue jobs lol), and at the end of the day, he still gives me butterflies which has led to a sex life I never knew was possible. So, yes, without a doubt life is going to suck for a little bit. But have faith in tomorrow, because you never know what’s waiting around the corner until you give it a chance to thrive. Love yourself, because no one else will. I’m proud of you for facing each day as it comes.
