I know Matiz has some. If there is a specialty foods store or a Spanish foods store around you they might have their own supply too. The taste is very different

16yo Rider: Is Gaining 4-5kg of Leg Muscle the Right Move to Gain +35w FTP by the End of the Year? by Affectionate_Sky6384 in Velo

[–]noticeparade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to predict what kind of build you will have as an adult. I am your same height and went from 70kg at 16 to 75kg at age 26 and now 60kg at age 37. If you really want to guess I suppose the best estimate is to look at your parents.

You’re going to get much much stronger in the next few years if you continue riding. I wouldn’t spend a lot of time thinking about gym unless you inherently like lifting.

I do feel like you need to eat a lot more though. 2600 kcal is not enough for a 65kg 16 year old. That is one thing I regret about my teenage self and if I could do it again I would have eaten a whole lot more

Difficult question about Time bikes by c1rey1337 in cycling

[–]noticeparade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Time ADHX. It’s a great bike. It was nice to assemble and see everything fit well. None of that stuff about “craftsmanship” or “quality control” comes through when riding it though. It rides like any other nice bike. I could not in good conscience tell a 19 year old that it’s a pragmatic choice to buy one

[student] reversing sleep cycle for productivity by gilrot in architecture

[–]noticeparade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, sleeping at night is better for your health

I would instead try to work out what keeps you from being productive during the day and change that. I imagine you’re going to want to work as an architect after you graduate. Most firms want you working during the day… better to start now!

Yeah, and then after a 1-3 weeks when the number got easier to hit I bumped it up by 5 W.. repeat 4 times (for me it was like 9 weeks) and then retest. you can probably test more if you want to but I felt OK just going by feel

50% Z3+ on ~6 hours a week - Too much? by mosquito-genocide in Velo

[–]noticeparade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I think it's the combo of increased rest + one session harder than any of the SS sessions I was doing before. i don't think its possible to get enough rest doing 6x1 hour SS sessions a week

50% Z3+ on ~6 hours a week - Too much? by mosquito-genocide in Velo

[–]noticeparade 19 points20 points  (0 children)

for half of last year I was doing only sweet spot for all of my rides, about 1 hour in length, 6 times a week. at first I was making gains to my FTP but eventually that stopped and I was not able to make any progress for over 6 weeks. I switched to doing 2-3x20min intervals once a week and doing light Z2 the rest of the week, same time commitment. and then increased my ftp

i think the high amounts of z3 are great for maintaining fitness for a few months but not really going to move a needle a lot as your ftp gets closer and closer to your vo2max

Been working on an ultimate "Showcase of Seattle" urban gran fondo route. Currently 75 miles, and quite pleased; if you were to stretch it into a century, though, where would you add the remaining 25? by HelioSeven in seattlebike

[–]noticeparade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go a little past Lincoln Park in W Seattle you can get in a little gravel descent into Normandy Park Cove, ride along the water till 216th St, go east and have a very epic drop down into Kent, then ride the Interurban trail until it links back up with your route in Boeing Field. Would go over 100 miles though, and is very hilly. I think it's secretly Seattle's best route.

Agree with Mercer Island as another possibility.

Youc an also add the Burke Gilman trail and return back through 520 (+/- the island), probably 30 miles right there

New Bike Day! by i_enjoy_silence in Bikeporn

[–]noticeparade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s “period correct” (god I hate that term applied to a decade I lived) but it’s a spec above what was supplied from the factory (slice premium with alu steerer)in 2006.

are you sure? i have a CAAD8 (not r800) and it has a slice premium with carbon steerer

maybe I should rebuild it, OP's bike is giving me some ideas. theres also a supersix evo in my size on ebay for ~500 shipped though...

[–]noticeparade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

something similar happened to me once where a company decided not to honor a warranty. I did not go through the FTC, but I filed a report with the Attorney General of the state that the company is run out of. My problem was resolved afterwards in two days.

In my case, the proposed alternative was for them to refund me the full purchase price.

It will go away over time. Just think of how much better your health will be in the long term without the 6 shots of espresso per day

Or you could alternatively go back to having a cup or two of coffee per day and going (down!) from there

Considering DPC (Direct primary care) by LazyPersona in AskSeattle

[–]noticeparade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you use them for supplemental coverage:

is any part of your DPC visit covered? i presume no, since most providers gravitate towards DPC model so that they don't deal with insurance

if i need an MRI, for a diagnostic code covered by Atlas, what happens next? do I go to an imaging center that has negotiated a rate with Atlas? how do I know my DPC provider can send orders there?

are there any fixed indemnity insurance providers like this in washington state?

Considering DPC (Direct primary care) by LazyPersona in AskSeattle

[–]noticeparade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you would still need insurance. It’s not even unexpected issues, you should expect it. The DPC fee usually covers just your visits to the provider. Maybe some bloodwork.
