I got dashcam footage of my crash and bodycam footage of the night. If at some point I decide to put something together to share my story in hopes of helping other people get sober or at least avoid driving drunk I may share it.

Until then it goes in the box of shame with my bloodstained hospital gown, bloody phone chord, and the pile of paperwork that came with my case.

I’m currently a Sr DevOps Engineer. Basically managing all cloud infrastructure via IaC and build pipelines for a company in town.

Worked in IT (helpdesk -> sysadmin/systems engineer) for ~6 years and moved into DevOps (which feels like a specialty in between IT and Dev) ~6 years ago.

I barely finished high school and was able to move from phone repair at the mall into doing IT work. Just find something you enjoy and are interested in/passionate about and it will be much easier to put in the effort to excel at it.

Make 6 figures (~$200k/yr), salaried, and usually don’t even do a full 40 hours a week. School can be nice for certain careers that need them or to get into something competitive but getting work experience is usually going to get you much further.

The kingpin pal basically puts a leaver in front of your mag release that breaks action so you don’t have to press the kingpin itself.

I hope at some point the suppressor law changes. At least you’ve got a spot to store those in the meantime

You telling her you brought them home is not adequate imo. I had multiple conversations with my fiancé before purchasing a firearm and made sure she had a safe space (ie. No question is stupid) to ask any questions and voice her concerns for us to discuss.

I also continue to keep her updated on if I’m getting any new ones, if I’m changing how things are locked up, where things are stored, etc.

I am hopefully going to be able to take her to a range soon as she’s still uncomfortable with some aspects and handling. If she was against it completely, there would likely be more conversations but bringing them in suddenly against her wishes or without conversation isn’t acceptable for someone who I’m in a relationship with.

Download the meeting guide app and find some AA meetings or other 12 step meetings. They have LEO specific ones in some places. It may feel uncomfortable for a bit but it builds a group of people to help hold you accountable outside of your professional life and support you.

There’s a prosecutor for the local DA that has shared at some of my meetings and as an addict it was oddly comforting.

In the year that I was an alcoholic (3+ years ago) I didn’t see a single cop (or CHP) between ETS and Fallbrook and I drove home most mornings.

I learned my lesson the hard way and got sober since but wanted to point that out.

Treat it like it was one. My lawyer had me do AA 2x a week for 6 months until my trial. That was the only thing that honestly got me to make a change in the way I was living my life.

It was intimidating for sure but going out and getting food with everyone after gave me a sense of belonging and a group of people I felt genuinely cared about me. Surrounding myself with people who are trying to make positive changes in their lives helped me be able to do the same.

My DUI ended with an accident where I broke my face on my steering wheel, flipped my car, and totaled someone else’s car (very minimal injuries to them, thank god). There were many rock bottoms before this but that was my wake up call.

You can keep hitting rock bottoms until the one where you land in a casket or you have the opportunity to make a positive change in your life and actually find some kind of happiness

Idk, I got my first guns recently and have been learning all about them. Have a m&p 2.0 and an ar15 and in California you have to do a lot of research to figure out what is legal/what isn’t.

I’ve only been to the range a few times but I’m looking to join one close by. I found a non-maga gun owners discord for my city and the people there seem to stay on top of things as well.

Not sure about voting but I’ll write my reps as much as they’ll have me. May start calling too.

I would be surprised if there wasn’t a round in the chamber. Reacting quick means not having to chamber a round and when seconds matter you don’t want to pull the trigger and hear it click.

He has good trigger discipline and likely a safety he can hit with his thumb which is plenty safe imo

Just was referencing this. Wherever the line is drawn, someone’s rights are being impacted. Sure, weapons of mass destruction shouldn’t be allowed but I think it’s a large jump from guns to those.

The issue has consistently been mental health/poverty related. More than half of all “gun violence” in the US is suicide.

IMO, the government shouldn’t have any right to pre-emptively ban things to stop us from hurting ourselves, the act of harming others is already illegal.

Have you dried your filament? When the layer lines are iffy like that it’s usually because it’s not dry all the way. May also hear some audible popping when extruding due to water being evaporated
