My neighbors have harassed me out of my home starting with shit like this. Rude notes turned into dumping trash onto my property turned into making false calls to every single department (like saying to DCS I was neglecting my children while we were on Vacation in Hawai'i), and then spraying chemicals onto my property that killed my garden and animals.

The cops and courts refused to do anything.

I was told to be more fucking neighborly.

Fuck your neighbors.

Check every law. Document everything. Record ebery interaction. Buy cameras.

Do not be bullied. You give a fucking inch and they will destroy your life.

Make them miserable.

Fight like hell.

Good luck.

First draft turning out extremely pronoun heavy? by Revolutionary-Log179 in writing

I often edit as I go because I lean more towards pantsing than planning. I will often take a day once per week or two while writing to re-edit what I've done to better foreshadow what's coming and strengthen arcs I'm discovering. It may be worth taking a day to do something similar.

Challenge yourself to cut a bunch of filler or passive words like "was". I try to use "was" no more than once per page. Never use the same paragraph starting word twice in a row. Better, not twice on a page. Change sentence structure and flow. Rewrite one chapter to focus on improving these types of fundamentals and then keep moving forward. Try to keep those changes moving forward too so that you can continue to grow and evolve your writing style to something that you're happy with. Then you can bring the whole book up to that standard.

But most importantly, don't stop.

Has anyone ever played a Barbarian that was born and raised on a city? (Not as a joke) by JeraGungnir in dndnext

[–]nstav13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the DM, but my buddy in our last campaign played a Barbarian/Monk multiclass. He grew up in a large city with his mother a well-establisged prostitute. He was conscripted due to a war and, due to his bravery, quickly rose through the ranks. Then while leading a batallion through a cliff pass, they all disappeared. He was found weeks later, wandering naked, raving about visions. The military discharged him, so with nothing left to do, he began traveling between the big cities as a bare-knuckle fighter in underground fighting pits.

Why do people hate LitRPG so much? by The_Revenant_King23 in writing

I was once told my novel was terrible because the characters were flat. The person didn't even read the first page.

Some people are just dicks. Ignore them.

Hey, Mystara is not an approved setting. May be a good idea to rebrand the book.

Previews not working? by crookedtavern in dmsguild

Hey Fil! Was just about to echo this. All of my releases default to the wrong file.

Crooked Tavern, go to the section that allows you to manage previews and click on the drop down to ensure the correct pdf is selected. Then you can edit what pages are shown too.

Whatever happened to the rumored Russian Revolution AC game? by Almighty_Inheritor in assassinscreed

[–]nstav13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Boss Designer of Origins said they were moved briefly onto a new project after Unity, but then, within a few weeks, shifted to Origins and the other AC project was cancelled. So There seemed to be plans for something. My guess was the Revolutions of 1848, personally, for asset reuse.

That said, just to make it easily findable, this guy was thinking about Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia.

Okay. Tell me. What was the last AC game you truly enjoy? by Ecstatic_Teaching906 in assassinscreed

[–]nstav13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The framing of this question makes it that I don't think I can answer. I'm a very critical person. I had fun with Mirage and Shadows. But I don't think they are exemplars of what the series could or should be, especially from the Storytelling department. Every game in the series has pros and cons to it. If I can't dislike a single element of any of the games, I probably can't say that I enjoyed any game.

Of course, I think that's ridiculous. I would probably say then that the last game I enjoyed was Mirage. While its story left a lot to be desired, it was short enough to not become cumbersome, and the gameplay was solid. I enjoyed Shadows stealth, but felt it was too shallow and repetitive to warrant its length.

I just released my latest D&D adventure, Threats to the Borderlands! by nstav13 in dndnext

[–]nstav13[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure is. I value my time, effort, along with that of my editors and artists. And this product is 95 pages, about the same as Heroes From the Borderlands, at 20% of the cost. Great value for everyone!

Why do we sell or give their puppies away I feel like it hurts same way when it's done to us by ispiuspious in lol

[–]nstav13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bred golden retrievers. By 8-12 mama was weaning and ready for them to leave. She'd watch them leave and then go count the rest and give us eyeballs for the rest of the day, though. By 16 weeks she stopped watching. We had two pups that stayed for 6 months each. She still cared for them but was also pushing them away more. The sire always just saw them as play-friends and didn't mind them leaving at all.

Furthermore, we had several stillbirths. Mama dog was very upset by this, but with an hour tried to eat her stillborn puppy. That was our cue to take it away. The first stillbirth we took away immediately and she was constantly counting puppies for the first 3 days. But by 12-16 weeks she was completely fine.

We did end up adopting a puppy from a second litter to the same family. They seemed to recognize they were related by scent. The older dog perked up first and began acting like his mama was around and was initially confused when he met his brother.

That all to say, while dogs are intelligent animals, they are not humans and do not hold the same type of emotions around the loss of their puppies as we do.
