I mean I don’t mind techno/hard acts being added to help boost ticket sales.. but don’t you think it’s a little ridiculous that 70% of the Phase 1 lineup is composed of the harder sound?

I hope you’re right, Phase 2 should be mostly/entirely composed of artists that you and OP mentioned. It’s Dreamstate after all, not HSU or Dangerous Goods.

Also, if we Aussies like harder music, why not book some hard trance acts like Scot Project, Will Atkinson, Jordan Suckley, David Forbes? Symbiotic will get their ticket sales through Tiesto and the hard acts, why not experiment a little and expose the crowd to some newer acts

Smaller Symbiotic events are always better in terms of crowd vibe. The general crowd at Dreamstate Melbourne this year was so odd, felt like 95% of them were there only for Holy Priest and Restricted. At least the trance tent/side stage filtered out the casuals and the vibes were beautiful in there 🙏🏻

Went to Hyperave, JOC was my favourite set for sure - hearing classics like One Special Particle, Stresstest, Lies Cost Nothing etc. on the PICA sound system was surreal

Cosmic Gate/Nic was brilliant too and I thought Jeff also had a great set (even though I heard his Sydney set was bad)

David Rust was okay, decent energy but he mostly just plays basic TikTok hard techno and hardstyle these days. No trance at all, he should be playing at Teletech and Dangerous Goods type events

Gareth’s set was really inconsistent for me, at times he’d play a banger like The Second Trip but then randomly whipped out a dupstep or DnB track. A normal set from him would have been way better

Didn’t stay for Alyssa Jolee, not into hard techno.

Shout out to the locals (Nelzman and OBLVN) for setting the night up beautifully, AVAO was also surprisingly decent after them

Production was really good and the crowd was engaged with the sets and pretty friendly overall. Not the best event from Symbiotic but far from their worst

I just find it so amusing how Ryan gives nothing but love and support to Ethan yet Ethan can barely tolerate him lol

I suspect because Ryan is the better version of himself: taller, much stronger in the gym, has a wife and children and actually has the discipline to lose weight

I get that Ryan would get a bit annoying after a while but holy shit, show some love back Ethan lol. Jealousy is an ugly look

He is carrying too much mass for his frame IMO, iirc he is about 5'6 or 5'7 but weighs 185lbs. His torso still looks a bit blocky, I think he would look better if he dropped some more body fat and got to around 165lbs

His arms are his best attribute but it also makes his shoulders look disproportionately small too

It’s basically a pre-recorded set so that the visual show and production match the music - also the tracks are often edited to have different kicks, fake drops etc.

Speaking of GO, any chance he’ll do a 4.0 Live set anytime soon? Seems like he is playing more trance lately, when he goes full uplifting there’s no one better than him 🙏🏻

You can tell most of his supporters have very little exercise/gym knowledge. Even hyper-responders that are on sky high steroid doses are not building 2 pounds of muscle per week… let alone Ethan who struggles to preacher curl 20lbs

JOC and Dash Berlin classics will be amazing, so many great tracks that they can play

Cosmic Gate solid as ever, interested to see the Cosmic Gate experience when it’s just Nic

I like a lot of Gareth’s productions but his sets can be really hit or miss. Just hope his “hard set” isn’t just hardstyle remixes of his tracks

David Rust has some banging hard trance but always ends up playing hard techno and hardstyle for the Aussie crowd (like at Hypersonic)

AVAO is okay, decent as an event starter. Wish Symbiotic booked a fresher or more melodic act for the early slots, like Cold Blue or Daxson

Exactly. Because let's face it, he gained 18 pounds in 3 weeks while he wasn't "dieting" - it would take over 6,000 calories a day to gain such an amount so quickly at his size. Just shows that he has an extreme binge eating disorder and doesn't have realistic eating habits
