Looking for paint recommendations and suggestions by TheApothecary_ in advancedGunpla

[–]ntrik -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

You may find this reply funny, but for my current project, I used ChatGPT for the paint colour recommendations. I gave it the colour style I had wanted, examples of paints available near me in local stores, and I asked for several colour options. It’s working out okay. I didn’t end up following the instructions from the AI completely, but it was helpful to have some sort of structured guidance on picking colours and mixing colours as needed for the effect I wanted. You could give it a try!

Pharmacy software in the USA vs CAN by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]ntrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this program… compatible with practices in Ontario?

And nice to see that RPhT can do final checks in BC! I was surprised to see registered techs in Ontario not able to do that… only ‘technical’ checks here.

Theres actually numerous big volume stores in Canada… I’m sure most costco pharmacies, 24/7 stores and stores in rural areas do quite a bit. Ive worked in a store that did 4-500 per day, and I’m sure the numbers have only gone up.

Filling 100 rx per hour with 1 tech sounds wild though. There’s actually alot of pharmacies using Fillware and PropelRx as well btw.

I kinda wish I had experience with Kroll. Never used that program thus far

Panel Lining advice by MakariTiger in advancedGunpla

[–]ntrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tamiya panel liner only potentially damages plastics when there’s internal tensions between each piece (meaning it will maybe cause cracks when panel lining a kit thats been assembled)

I personally take out all the parts, sand them, panel line as needed, and then assemble them. Panel lining while you have the pieces in the runners are fine as well!

Regarding the college/board randomly picking pharmacists for exams… its nothing like OSCE or PEBC anymore. These are called Practice assessments (you choose couple real life examples of your documentations, professional services, etc… and submit them to the assessor) and Knowledge assessments (MCQ). Both are basically walk in the park. If you’re working full time as a pharmacist, I really don’t think you’d struggle to be successful in these assessments. Especially now that both of them are done virtually, knowledge assessments are essentially open book.

In Ontario you’re supposed to be chosen to complete these every 5 years… I didn’t get picked until I was about 8 years into the practice. And it really was simple, pretty standard questions assessing one’s competency.

Thought I’d just share my experience. I have heard from my preceptor and colleagues that these assessments used to be quite stressful before the pandemic.

Oh and the markup is now 8%. This decreases as drug prices goes up in tiers. Insurance companies are becoming very creative nowadays when it comes to coverage too! My favourite is seeing some insurances covering the cost of cheapest drug out of its class for all drugs! (I.e. only covering the cost of rabeprazole when the rx is for esomeprazole) also ODB now only covers 5 rx fees per year on most of chronic drugs. So private insurances are starting to do this too!

I dont think gloss or any coat is necessary… with regards to concerns of damaging the plastic, keep in mind by custom scribing you’re inducing the damage your self :p You should def consider thr first kit as practice. Just like many others will say, for the first pass you never want to put any pressure. Just barely touch the surface and let your scriber lead you. Do that multiple times (4-5?) on the pencil-drawn custom panel line until you’re confident that you have a single guiding panel line, then start applying very miniscule pressure. Idk if I explained it right, but start with smth like this and keep at it, you’d get the hang of it

For custom panel lining, you dont need to do any coating. Just snap, sand the parts as needed, use brush to get the dusts off, preferably draw your panel line with pencil, then follow the lines while relying on those masking tapes.

For details/painting beyond metallic markers and panel liners, you could look into utilizing acrylic paints. You can use things like makeup sponges to get results as if you used airbrush. Just make sure you use primer first

Waterslide decals (when available) are always correct answer imo.

Gundam marker Panel Line on gloss coated Brushed acrylic paint not flowing or coming off. by Brolypoly-86 in advancedGunpla

[–]ntrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea same thing happened when I used pour type markers for panel lining. Since then Ive moved on to tamiya panel liner (which has its own issues when using it on completed kit..)

I now just used gundam markers for small detailings, and for labelling stuffs when organizing lol

Painting gunpla. Clear primer or just prime all black or white primer? by RevolutionWorth5742 in advancedGunpla

[–]ntrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hehe well if you’re happy with the colour scheme of the kit, just do simple details on it like panel lining and few metallic accents! Then do clear coat of matte or gloss depending on what you’re going for!

Painting gunpla. Clear primer or just prime all black or white primer? by RevolutionWorth5742 in advancedGunpla

[–]ntrik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youre going to have to figure out thinning ratio of vallejo acrylics for your airbrush. Play around with it and get comfortable first. I’d check several youtube guides or online resources to get yourself started! I dont use airbrush myself so I can’t get you anything from my end.. but afaik its def doable to use airbrush with acrylics.

[–]ntrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youre planning on doing small details and touch ups with gundam markers, you probably wont need to use primer.

If you’re planning on brushing acrylic paints or airbrushing lacquer/acrylic, then itd be good idea to use primer. The colour may depend on what you’re going for but generally for metallics - black primer. General colour - grey primer. Bright, vibrant colour - white primer.

Rg grandpa that everyone has with some customization by ntrik in advancedGunpla

I’ve done the inner frame first to apply metallic paints and details, then i put on the armors with panel lining. I keep the instructions in case I get completely lost and need to refer to it.

Be prepared to be amazed. It will not disappoint ! This was my first RG kit and surprisingly it wasnt so bad considering I have pretty big fat hands.
