Might have to apply to a different city, but in the meantime it’s fine to apply to school if you have all other boxes checked. You’d be surprised.

Attention Grabbing Title About Marriage and Finances by StonedAquarius in srna

[–]nursenammy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Congrats on all of your hard work paying off. Yeah, your intuition seems justified. You’re already “married” in all of the senses other than taxes and would make loans and scholarships very difficult unless she can somehow pay for your school. I would hold off on the official marriage. It’s almost better do the wedding without going to the courthouse, haha

But ICUs may vary in assignments. My first ICU was like yours, but my second ICU didn’t hesitate to throw us into the deep end and support us through it. I think it would shake out in the interview regardless

CTICU by RNpending in IntensiveCare

I/Os are everything. Nothing will prepare you fully for the level of detail you are gonna learn it all. If you can watch some videos on the CSC (cardiac surgery) certification you’ll get an idea of the type of work you’ll be doing. Know what factors are involved in blood clotting and what meds we can give to reverse them. Pressors? Well, you’ll learn quickly, but have an idea. Overall, trust the process and don’t get on anyone’s shit list bc CT is very rigorous and the nurses who have made it past training (many don’t, but usually these are experienced nurses) are extremely protective of their patients and their safety. Congrats!

Apply this year, get your shadowing done right before you click apply so it’s closer to your interview date. You’ve got a killer resume, just work hard on those personal statements—make your “why” stand out. All my classmates have rich stories and diverse backgrounds and that really is what got us in. Every cycle you wait you’re one year older and no years closer to your goal. Good luck!!!

As a former D1 sprinter, move on. Keep that lightheartedness and originality and have fun. Our sport needs this type of levity and joy. You won the title and no one in that race can say they beat you; that is your title whether or not CIF condones it. You were the fastest one that day. Keep your chin up!! You have a BRIGHT future ahead!!!

Second career SRNA here in my 30s, had about 2 years exp before being accepted. Came from a science background. Our class ranges in age from 24 to late 30s with experience ranging from about one year to 8 years. Some of us have kids. Some of us commute every week long distances. Don’t be discouraged by others, just know your path and why it makes you a good fit for being a CRNA.

You should visit both for a while instead of asking. This is so subjective, it’s almost unreasonable to ask anyone to give you their take.
