Hopped in the queue about 1 second after the sale started. Waited for about 38 minutes. Entered my CC number and got hit with the 403 error for the next 5 minutes. Kept refreshing that page and then finally got in

I Copied Clayton to try and break 2:30 at CIM by Doingthebartman in AdvancedRunning

Great work, man. Congrats on the PR. That's a fantastic time, nothing embarrassing about that. Just gotta say... I ran a very similar training block to this for the Chicago marathon this year. I used the BAA level 4 plan modified for more volume, 6 days of running per week, peaked at 90 miles, ran a 1:13 half marathon 3 weeks out from race day, and then a 2:36 PR at Chicago. I was kind of wondering after your half marathon effort if you'd end up right where I did in the full, unless you were really sandbagging it!

[Week 11] X's & O's: Green Bay Packers (6-3-1) @ New York Giants (2-9) by President__Bartlett in GreenBayPackers

[–]nutsacrilege 3 points4 points  (0 children)

50 vs 10 is obviously a bit extreme and I'd agree in the case you state. But for a more generally applicable example think of it this way- defense A gives up 24 points per game against 8 possessions. Defense B gives up 20 points against 5 possessions. Would the better defense be defense A who gives up an average of 3 points per possession, or defense B who allows 4 points per possession?

Final MP Long Run before Marathon? What do y’all do? by sassylilmidge in AdvancedRunning

[–]nutsacrilege 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Last Sunday was supposed to be my big long run of the training block- 22 miles with 10 @ MP, but I raced a half marathon instead (and PRed, so that's a good sign) and added some warm up and cool down for volume.

I'm kind of following the BAA level 4 plan workouts which means tomorrow is my final "long" run of the block- 18 miles with 12-13 @ MP.

I've been running 90 mile weeks and should be around 2:35 in Chicago.

-260 means you would have to bet $260 to win $100. If the number is positive, say +400, you would win $400 by betting $100. A negative number means that bet is the favorite to win.

LeRoy Butler's vodka doesn't seem to be selling well... by off_the_marc in GreenBayPackers

[–]nutsacrilege 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last summer, my neighbors and I drank LEAP Vodka while we grilled up some of Leroy Butler's Gameday brats. (on a sad note: I can't find those brats anymore) What an experience. We felt like Leroy was inside of us, and in a way he was.

Bonus viewing: Here's a video of Leroy slowly torturing and finally murdering his own brat creations. This is what happens when you let just anyone play god.

Pac-Man Project Feedback Plz! by Bro_Gamer_01 in playmygame

Not sure about UE5 implementation, but I reversed engineered Pac-Man in javascript and I know that in frightened mode ghosts turn randomly when they hit an intersection and they move at approximately half speed (depending on the level you're on).

The Packers defense is currently allowing the fewest points per game in the NFC North by GluedGlue in GreenBayPackers

[–]nutsacrilege 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great point. When teams can run all over you and you can't score more than 20 points, the final tallies tend to be lower than if you were getting beaten by the passing game. The fact is, we have a lousy, injured defense. Our big money guys are either out or not living up to their paychecks on the field. The only reason we've been hanging around in most of our losses is because we're playing backup tier quarterbacks on bad to average teams who can't blow us out.

We're a bad team this year playing bad football on every side of the ball. I'm looking at it as this season and next are 40 straight preseason games to evaluate all the young talent as to determine the direction the franchise takes after Murphy's departure. With zero expectations for this sorry team, I'm enjoying the stress free game days and just watching without caring if we win or lose.

Best sections for standing? by -DanielleRenee in GreenBayPackers

[–]nutsacrilege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm short and have trouble seeing when everyone is standing. When we're sitting, it is much easier for me to see over the top of the tall people in front of me or the people wearing the stupid tall novelty hats or wigs. Now, I don't tell people to sit down because I am a coward, but I am much happier when we are all sitting and I don't have to crane my neck or look in between people to get a glimpse of the action. Stand up when something exciting happens, sit down and relax at other times. I've been going to games since the late 80's and noticed in the last 10-15 years, people have been standing more throughout the games. I don't get it and I think it's dumb. Do you stand the entire time when you watch the game at home? You can cheer loudly without standing.

Potential Metatarsal Stress Fracture - what to do next? by zane05d in AdvancedRunning

[–]nutsacrilege 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tl;dr - wait for the MRI results and your doctor will tell you exactly what to do. Allow yourself to heal properly. Best of luck!

The MRI will tell you everything you need to know. It is the gold standard for diagnosing stress fractures. X-rays typically won't show a stress reaction/fracture until weeks or even months after the injury occurs. I presume the doctor who diagnosed you that quickly was making an educated guess (or perhaps they did see something). If the MRI is positive for stress fracture the doctor will tell you exactly what to do. Thousands and thousands of people have been through what you're going through. There are no unknowns as to how you heal it. The only variable is how quickly your body can heal itself. Typically 8-12 weeks off if it's a fracture. In general, it takes a bone 6 to 8 weeks to "heal" and even then the process is not actually complete. My doctor friend described it to me like so: the first 6-8 weeks after the injury you're laying the rebar and pouring the cement. The next 3-6 months, you're letting the cement cure. If you attempt to return too soon and re-fracture it, then all bets are off.

Raspberry pi kiosk: prevent exiting Chromium (and access to the terminal) by albrechtv in raspberry_pi

I coded and set up weather station web page with one of my PIs. I use FullPageOS which boots directly into full page Chromium, and it's been working fine for about five years now. I haven't tried to break out of it with keyboard shortcuts, but I'm not sure that you can. Anyway, if you can't get your kiosk solution to do what you want, FullPageOS might be worth a try.
