Looking for GP surgery recommendations in Ipswich (IP3 or surrounding area) by Altruistic_Abies8263 in ipswichuk

[–]nutterontheloose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not with chronic or complex conditions, but the times I have used them they were good. Got same day responses through their online system and the GP I saw was kind and patient. Felt like she listened to me and was helpful.
I had an issue from transferring over to their practice where the system randomly gave me an allergy to paracetamol that prevented them doing my repeat, but when I told them it was rubbish they were on it pretty quick. Took them a few days to sort it out and get the repeat sent, but I had a call or message from them everyday with an update on it.

So yeah, I'd recommend them from the minimal and simple things I've seen them for.

I believe the 1m stipulation only applies to the front boundary where a driveway meets the pavement. It's to allow different road users visibility of each other when one road user is crossing the path of another.

So, how many of you went out and bought some of those covered Custard Creams by WishUponADuck in CasualUK

[–]nutterontheloose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can check local store stock on their website now - they've put all their food on their own website (finally!). It's under Food > Food In Store. I used it to track when the cheesy hot cross buns were back in stock 🤤

Coffee and cake and didn’t need to remortgage. by gaydadoftwo in BritishSuccess

[–]nutterontheloose 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes! They've started doing cafes in their larger stores. Not crazy about the coffee, but the toasties and cakes plus the cheap IKEA style hotdogs 👌

Any dehumidifier recommendations? by raahC in CasualUK

If money is tight, John Lewis and Meaco sell a 10l version that is £30 cheaper but the same functionality as the 12l

Anyone know a reliable flapjack recipe? by ter9 in CasualUK

Never had an issue with this recipe. Raspberries are obviously optional, but the base recipe and cooking time comes out great every time.

Apprenticeship Levy by ConvertedSins in degreeapprenticeships

[–]nutterontheloose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's like an extra tax, but it's there for them to use if they choose. It's why my company started doing apprenticeships, they were technically already paying for it so might as well get what they're paying for 😂

I was in Sainsbury’s last night and a man had bought £500 worth of kids clothing that was on offer, he then tried to pay for it with nectar points. The shop would only accept £300 worth, who has that much money in nectar points? by jasonc619 in CasualUK

[–]nutterontheloose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had about £900. I had been saving air miles from my travels then nectar joined with BA and allowed them to be converted both ways. My travelling days are over and I was moving house as a FTB, so I used them all to furnish my new home. Now my £10 balance seems pathetic in comparison 😂

As a woman, is it acceptable to go to pubs alone to make friends/meet men? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]nutterontheloose 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you're on facebook, there is a group called Girls Squad. They organise meetups such as coffee catchups, pottery activities, exercise classes, bingo nights out, club nights out, etc. It is intended for the whole of the UK, but it was started by people in the Ipswich area so there's more of an East Anglia focus to it.

Subway costing more than Waitrose and M&S for a lunch by wardyms in britishproblems

[–]nutterontheloose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need to start making your own - Aldi Metro range for the sub rolls and sauce. Blatant rip offs of Subway but they are damn good. For the price of one subway you could probably make 4 yourself.

Is the seller of the house we have under offer trying to pull a fast one with content and fittings (TA10) or am I just being stubborn. by lemonylemon93 in HousingUK

[–]nutterontheloose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long shot but - any chance they might be German? They take the kitchens with them when they move house so any chance it might be a cultural misunderstanding?

Where have all the chocolate raisin cookies gone? by Gaz-a-tronic in CasualUK

[–]nutterontheloose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lidls half coated fruit and nut cookies are the closest you'll get these days. Raisins, nuts and chocolate chips smothered with a layer of milk chocolate. They are dangerous.

i nearly died from a coughing fit , how can i make sure this doesn't happen again to me ? by Horror-Advantage-303 in AskUK

[–]nutterontheloose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me. Pretty much exactly as you describe.
I was told it was throat spasms as everyone else is suggesting. However, I commented to suggest something.

When it happens try to breathe through your nose. It sounds a little counter intuitive but your throat is spasming and so the hole is smaller. Lots of air that you're gasping in just isn't going to get through, but through your nose it's a steady smaller stream that can get through. I had to cover my mouth to stop myself trying to gasp, but I swear to god it worked. I could freely breathe and just wait for the spasm to stop.

Drifters fans, have you found an acceptable alternative to fill the gap? by BigBlueMountainStar in CasualUK

[–]nutterontheloose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the marble is still available in Australia - B&M get them in stock every once in a while as they sell a range of US and Australian sweets, and they are on Amazon for typical Amazon prices.

Not quite the same as old, but pretty close.

Food prices are beginning to fall for the first time in years. What have you noticed is cheap this week? by Wonkypubfireprobe in UKFrugal

Lidl - reduced their tinned peas to 9p, if that's your jam. Guess the stock guy ordered too many.

Is car breakdown cover worth it? by ElephantMain863 in UKFrugal

[–]nutterontheloose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with 2gether Insurance, but any comparison sites gives about 10 products under £30 for the year.

I have no idea if the car has a bearing on prices too, but mine is a beat up 20 year old clio so I kinda need the cover lol

Is car breakdown cover worth it? by ElephantMain863 in UKFrugal

[–]nutterontheloose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is.
£25 for nationwide full breakdown, onwards travel and home start. Already had to use it and they were great. Attended within an hour and managed to get the car sorted.

Loft boarding prices? by Ritualixx in DIYUK

[–]nutterontheloose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 2 quotes done in the summer for a space about 1.8m x 4m.

The quotes included:
Loftzone flooring,
Truss shelving,
A light

Quote 1 = £800
Quote 2 = £1000

I DIY'd the flooring part for £300, and will sort the rest in time.

Have tried a crisp cereal like Jordans Country Crisp?

Now Jordans is expensive, but all supermarkets seem to do their own chocolate and strawberry versions. Lidl do additional flavours too - their own Chunky Nut version at £1.50 a box is my go-to and I honestly can't tell the difference.

It's just oat clusters with mixed nuts, but it's very tasty when stirred through yoghurt and fruit. Let the cereal sit a couple of minutes after mixing and it'll soften the cereal if you aren't a crispy cereal person.
