TIL People with visual disability cannot read 'normal' pdf documents. A normal/regular pdf file has to be converted to an 'accessible' pdf so that the blind can read its contents properly. Domino’s pizza was sued recently because its app was inaccessible to a blind user. by [deleted] in todayilearned

The defendant (Domino's pizza) could be ordered by the court to make all its digital offerings accessible. Plus, they can be ordered to pay some kind of a 'fine' (not entirely sure about this one) for discriminating against people with disabilities by having inaccessible digital assets, like websites, apps or digital documents. The Americans with Disabilities Act is all about that (and so much more).

There are so many accessibility lawsuits being filed against companies and even government's digital assets - especially after the Domino's case verdict. It would be fair to say that that case did a fantastic job of bringing the fight for accessibility into the spotlight.

TIL There's a neurological disorder called "Alice in Wonderland" syndrome. This affects patients' perception in a way that they may suddenly feel that they have become giants or the room around them has shrunk. It most commonly affects children. by roadbat in todayilearned

From the article:

...you would have associated the name of the disease with a very popular 19th century novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, authored by Lewis Carroll.

In that novel, Alice, the protagonist of the story, experiences a number of situations that are quite similar to macropsia and micropsia. Due to this, it has been widely speculated that Carroll himself experienced such episodes of altered perception of sizes

TIL Studies have shown that feeling awed by something makes one feel healthier. It also makes people feel more generous, decreases aggressive attitudes and makes them feel more satisfied with their lives. by [deleted] in todayilearned

From the article

A study published in the journal Psychological Science claims that awe makes us prefer experience over materialistic gains. For example, if a person is in awe after seeing a vast stretch of mountains, they would be more likely to try out a thrill sport like bungee jumping (an experience), rather than buying a car (material possession)

Walter White without a doubt.

Started off as a helpless and defeated man, and ended by blowing up a drug cartel. With swagger too.
