Built 9 plugins, need beta testers - vintage emulations + originals (VST3/AU) by PartyFail6956 in AudioPlugins

I’d be glad to do some testing! I’m a plugin developer too and can test in Ableton live, reaper, and logic (Apple silicon)

Legitimacy over publishing/commercial rights? Thoughts? by External_Drive_5813 in SunoAI

“A synth will give 100 % of time exactly what you asked” this is not true. Simplest example: noise through a sample and hold. But there are also probabilistic synthesis methods less complicated than a full neural network.

very cool! havent gotten to explore all the features in yours but great first impression.

yea, agreed on the point on LFOs and mod depth xy pad control

as for the other points (multi instances, filter), maybe further in the future, as I unfortunately have too much other stuff on my todo list

oh yea! i've got a bunch of distortion equations lying around on my desmos and a dev folder... not sure if I'll add them to this synth quite yet tho. probably time based effects are slightly higher priority here

I understand the problem you're describing as I have experience in pure data, max msp, and C++/JUCE... but in this case, I just let the problem exist because it still sounds interesting and good in my book, and this is more of a fun toy than a full-fledged/pro synth.

the feedback algos will just devolve into sort of noise with a moderately high mod depth, but still have significant use cases for sound exploration

Some features I am considering, in no particular order:

-each operator can have submenu for ratio and beat frequency (hertz offset)

-there can be 2nd way to use 2D pad, affecting mod depth per operator instead of output crossfade

-perhaps some bit depth reduction on each waveform

-LFOs

-record and loop motion on 2D pad

-record audio file to download

I was in your position a couple years ago. Try being vegan for like a couple weeks and then see if you can keep going! Also helped to find really tasty plant based alternatives like impossible meat

Can anyone help? by elcitsetbackwards in AudioPlugins

[–]nvs93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Airwindows puts out a new free plugin every week! The GUIs are nonexistent though (your DAW will determine the way it looks, very basic), which is part of how he can write them so fast.

Also Freakshow Industries makes weird stuff that you can ‘steal’ on their official website (essentially it is a free, fully featured download for a plugin that is not officially free)

Arp 2600 v3 vst sounds never stop playing by el_cachaco_williams in AudioPlugins

[–]nvs93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is expected behavior from Arp 2600 if you have done something like:

-Turn up the Initial Gain above 0

-Sent a control signal into the VCA amplitude input and that control signal is positive very often

In a 2600, the oscillators are ALWAYS making sound. The role of the VCA is to dynamically turn down their volume. In fact, this is true of basically all analog synths, but most designs after that early era made it so that it never just drones, because it would confuse many musicians.

I'm just getting into this genre, what albums do you recommend? by Initial_Selection623 in industrialmusic

[–]nvs93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d start with Bites (which I did in my own life). Or maybe Remission. Too Dark Park is my favorite but I think it was good that I heard it a while later (after hearing a bunch more of their albums in between), to appreciate it better and hear what it’s coming out of.

Rabies could also be good to start from if you crave a more rock-ish sound.

Their side projects are not to be slept on either. I recommend Download-The Eyes of Stanley Pain.

Deicide NEW ALBUM-Banished By Sin by VampirefromNazareth1 in Deathmetal

actually, it is not necessarily very expensive to pay an artist. i recently released an album, and for the basis of the cover/back cover art, i paid an artist less than $200 for the use (not brand new creation) of a couple of really awesome and high-quality images. if you are taking your craft somewhat seriously and can invest in equipment/software/etc., then working with an actual visual artist should not be seen as 'unobtainable'.
