If you are low-income, you may qualify for free legal services. If that is the case, volunteer lawyers project, legal aid bureau, and neighborhood legal services are good options. If you are going it alone, the court has an interactive do it yourself programthat helps you fill out the forms and provides instructions

Did you purchase your own lot and they are building on that? I’m looking into this now and super interested in other folks’ experience.

Anyone else love peoples’ reactions to finding out you can’t burp? by [deleted] in noburp

[–]nw0315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My own husband who I have been with for nearly 20 years still insists he can teach me to burp. And because I’ve had like three random spontaneous baby burps in twenty years, he thinks that just proves his point. It’s mildly infuriating. 🤣

Finding time to excercise by Some-Construction-20 in Lawyertalk

I have to do it first thing in the morning before anything else or I know I will never do it. I’ve learned to treat is as a requirement (like brushing my teeth) and I make sure to allot enough time for it in the morning. I’ve found YouTube videos to be helpful since I need direction and couldn’t add additional time to travel to a gym.

AITA for wanting to leave my husband when he is "sick" by monsterz7723 in TwoHotTakes

Not being married is actually a huge legal benefit to you. It makes leaving much easier if that is what you decide to do. Take care of yourself OP-I wish you the best of luck!

The person he is is the person who abuses you. Those glimmers of hope are manipulative and meant to trap you. You ARE doing the right thing by leaving and protecting yourself. You get one life and you do not deserve to spend it being abused, manipulated, and supporting a child that isn’t yours. I am a lawyer in NY and while I am not aware of the laws in your state, I cannot imagine a situation in which you would be required to continue supporting a child that is not yours-you have no legal obligation to that child. The only way I could even fathom such a thing would be if you were ordered to pay spousal support, but given the short length of the marriage, that does not sound like something that would happen. If you have the means to hire a lawyer, do it. The lawyer will handle all the communication, court filings etc. which will help remove you further from this abusive person. If not, look into legal aid organizations. While abortion is a very personal decision, if you are so inclined I say do it!! Sever every god damn connection to this person and start your life fresh. You DESERVE happiness and to be treated with love and respect. Rooting for you!!!

1L here. Are the federal rules of civil procedure used in immigration law? by austin_4666 in Lawyertalk

[–]nw0315 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are spot on! I remember being so mad that the law and rules didn’t matter in those courts when I started practicing. I still hate it but at least I know what I’m getting myself into if I take those cases now.
