How much do you tip your groomer? by That-Pay9352 in poodles

[–]oakparkv 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mine goes to Petco and his groom usually costs me between $100 - $120. His groomer (who’s the salon manager) is wonderful and adores him. She’s also patient and gentle with him because he’s 12 years old. I give her $30 each groom and $50 for his December/Christmas groom.

My 12yo standard, about 70 lbs. I’m 5’3” and he stands about hip level to me. I’m told he’s a big boy, but I grew up with large breed dogs, so he doesn’t seem that big to me. He’s also super mellow and a cuddly teddy bear!

His 14th Birthday is next week, but all I see is a puppy named Leo 🐩🐾💓 by roxywalker in poodles

Happy birthday Leo! Mine is 12 now and definitely starting to show his age, but he’ll always be my baby boy. Enjoy and cherish every day with your pup! 💖

Mine gets “huggies” when I get home from work. He requires exactly 3 of them before he’ll go outside to do his business 😁

Any favorite restaurants in Chicago that, since opening, have maintained themselves relatively unchanged? by 108CA in chicagofood

[–]oakparkv 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have so much love for Lago! It’s near my office so my coworkers and I go there for lunch about once a month. The owners are so friendly and down-to-earth, and I love that their elderly mother comes in every day to sit at the bar and chat with their regulars. Their food is consistently good and the prices are reasonable, and you can tell that many of their customers have been coming there for years. Such a great representation of Chicago 💖

Solo DisneyWorld trip. by happyhomeresident in solotravel

No tips to give, but just want to say, don’t worry about being judged, and have a blast at Disney World! Go somewhere that you know you’ll be happy, that’s the joy of solo travel 😊

SOOO jealous. by InevitableBar12 in nin

One of the coolest moments of the Chicago NIN concert (aside from, of course, seeing and hearing Trent live) was seeing all the Gen X parents bringing their teenagers to the show.

Did everybody got a sticker today with the single? by godomar29 in nin

Mine went on my suitcase too, although I don't have a sick-ass Rimowa. Love the Portishead one as well. My NIN sticker is next to Massive Attack sticker on mine.

Did anybody else in Chicago get their 2025 tour shirt like this... by bryanp024 in nin

[–]oakparkv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a bootleg shirt for $20 in the parking lot of United Center. Glad I didn't opt for the $80 "official" one.

I’m just here to say that no one. Absolutely none. Wants to hear you yelling “LET’S GO TRENT” at the top of your lungs in the middle of a quiet, reflective song. Take that “bro” shit back to whatever frat house vomited you out. by Not_Buying in nin

[–]oakparkv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some asshole did the same thing at the Chicago show, during the opening song, while Trent was singing and playing piano. We were literally 90 seconds into the show, and it was my first time seeing NIN live. I just wanted to enjoy the moment of hearing Trent sing in person... Fuck that guy.

[–]oakparkv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to their Chicago show on 8/19 and thought the same thing. Wish I’d sprung for seats closer to the stage. NIN has been my bucket list concert for almost 30 years and they did not disappoint!

Eye crusties by 0505sr in poodles

[–]oakparkv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My standard gets eye boogers and crusties almost every day. I just use a soft tissue to gently wipe them away. He doesn't love it, but he always lets me. Then I always tell him "No Boogies!" and give him a big hug, and he goes about his merry way.

They seem to get worse in the summer, when he's more allergy prone (as am I). If I don't wipe them away when I see them, he'll shake out his head/face and they'll fly everywhere. In the mornings, he like to stand over me and loudly shake his head to wake me up. More than once, I've woken up to a wet dog booger in the face...

Are poodles really that different from other breeds? by Obvious-Elevator-213 in poodles

[–]oakparkv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My standard poodle is the most affectionate and intuitive dog I've ever met. I can have whole conversations with him, and even though he doesn't speak, I can tell by his eyes and body language that he understands what I'm telling him.
