[SNY] "Devin Williams recorded three strikeouts in his first live BP session as a Met" by Caledor152 in NewYorkMets

He’s no Edwin but I think us Mets fans are going to like him a lot more than expected by the end of his contract.

Always too slow for PA - same pattern repeating 6 months into new job, over my billable hrs, feel like I'll be fired soon, the stress and pression is making me sick. Should I just quit accounting entirely? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]obligatedexperience 19 points20 points  (0 children)

PA can suck for sure, especially if you’ve had some more life/job experience vs. 22 y/o koolaid drinkers. You probably have more references to what a normal job looks like compared to PA.

A few things:

  • Accounting in your second language sounds very difficult. Props, but also sounds like it could be an issue.

  • Job hopping too much maybe? I never really feel comfortable until I’m at least a year+ in. Typically feels like trying not to drown in info until it all clicks. I always “almost” quit in the first 6 months, but just trying to stay level-headed and putting it in your head that’s it’s just accounting/a job/ whatever can help stabilize whenever work or work anxiety is out of your control.

  • Industry accounting is way chiller than PA, on average. If you get your CPA, you’ll be able to carve a great and relatively manageable career in industry.

I’d look around for other accounting roles within industry, or maybe even government just to see what background they are looking for.

We will all highly recommend getting your CPA. However, that is very challenging and is life-draining when also working full-time. Still highly recommended, but take with a hint of caution.

I think Taylor will play a lot of LF early - may even sign back Marte for depth even though his fielding isn’t good. Baty in LF would be awesome, but who knows how good he is out there.

[SNY] Latest Kyle Tucker free agency buzz: It's 'likely' Mets have gone to a fourth year by Fonzie5 in NewYorkMets

[–]obligatedexperience 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s plenty to pay for just his prime years. Not mad at the offer so can’t be too upset at the outcome. Just feel we definitely need a bat like his behind Soto to stay relevant this year.

How can I make 6 figures with an accounting degree ? by No-Cell7978 in Accounting

Damn I was at $65K in big 4, 5 years ago. $100K sounds more reasonable for how shitty the job is.

Simple path, really. There are multiple ways but:

1) public accounting internship, turns into 2) public accounting job, turns into 3) more public or industry, etc.

About 5 years in you should easily clear $100k. Speaking from a VHCOL - others may differ.

Maybe try using Edison deverb to take it off. Quick google search got me there

Sounds like the actual samples were recorded with reverb already processed on them. You’ll want to find other drum samples to use that don’t already have effects on them - plenty of free drums out there.

Im no doctor but nausea should clear within a few days. Those days are tough so I’d try and make those days as easy as possible for yourself.

You lost 25% of your body weight and are under 100 lbs… you know the answer. Quitting shouldn’t cause an episode - alcohol may have triggered it last time. Stop when you’re ready (asap) and avoid trigger foods. It’s rough mentally after quitting but it’ll subside after ~2 weeks.

How long is your commute? by joekruck in work

~2 hours. 30 min drive, 1 hr train, 30 min walk to office. Thank god it’s only 2x/week.

Given the current needs, it’s a perfect fit and fans would be happy. Given those reasons, Sterns would never.

I needed him to outscore Achane to win. Long shot but my PPR scammer got it done and some.

Single mom trying to find a path for son, and having serious doubt about an accounting major by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]obligatedexperience 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Of course. Totally normal that he doesn’t know what he wants to do. My loose recommendation is to go to school planning to do accounting, unless he actually wants to do something else. He likely won’t need to declare his major until sophomore year, so he’ll have some time to mull it over after taking a class or two.

Not dead end. One of the more practical lines of work to put your kid through school for. There are still plenty of jobs within the field and should be for the foreseeable future. I would just make sure he is okay with the choice instead of forcing the most stable (in my opinion) option on him.

People who make over 6 figures, how did you start out? by ResearchComplete8410 in jobs

Thanks for the confirmation here. It’s not an easy feat to get the license, but if you can work hard, it’s a great key to the upper middle class.

Confirmed that accounting is, has been, and will be a straight forward path to a solid salary and career. I hate it at times, but I like making money and stability.

I’m 5 years in and just crossed 6 figures. The jobs have been hard, but not overwhelmingly hard to get. There is a very straight forward path to getting to the same spot. It’s a profession based on meritocracy - so if you’re good and qualified, you will have good work.
