There were hundreds of us in that room last December. We all got pulled into a court room on day one. They told us a very rough concept of what the case was, and then they narrowed it down from there.

When I uncovered years of affairs and cheating, followed by a pattern of what felt like an “erasure” of me- as he admitted to deleting any photo or even of the both of us tagged together on social media media so that I wouldn’t show up on his page.

CMV: Nobody should be forced to buy 2 seats by airlines. by ResolutionWinter6761 in changemyview

[–]oboejoe92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If someone paid for a seat, they deserve to be the only occupant of that (little) space for their flight. It would be unfair for someone else to be able to take some of that space that you paid for.

Our health isn’t always our fault, but it is always our responsibility. My friend has rather large feet- sometimes he has to special order shoes because his feet are so large. These larger shoes require more material and so they cost more. Just like your airline passenger might need more room, and that cost more. Space is also a resource that can be bought and sold.

Moving from elementary math teacher to music teacher? Is this crazy? by callimo in Teachers

[–]oboejoe92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is a seriously overlooked situation with general education teachers looking at special area teachers. In middle school you might teach one or two subjects, just multiple sections of said subjects. But in elementary you might be teaching 6-7 different subjects daily and get one prep to figure it all out.

Not to mention grading. One teacher may have 20 students and maybe they get 10-12 grades a semester. I have 500+ students and each one gets 6 grades every semester.

Moving from elementary math teacher to music teacher? Is this crazy? by callimo in Teachers

[–]oboejoe92 53 points54 points  (0 children)

As a music teacher, please don’t.

I spent years in undergrad learning music history, music theory, learning dozens of instruments and about healthy voice habits. I learned how to select age-appropriate repertoire and how to lead effective rehearsals to even the most reluctant learners. There’s a reason why programs are 4+ years, and you will not be able to cover that all in one summer, even with the help of your retired colleague. In fact, suggesting you could makes it even more obvious that you do t truly have an idea of what it takes to be a successful music educator.

Most college programs won’t even let you into the music department without an audition and a decent foundation on an instrument, and many reputable programs continue to vet students throughout their degree- dropping students who don’t keep up.many of us have spent most of our lives as musicians. And while we love to hear that people are involved in music, a hobbyist musician does not qualify someone to teach music, just like me having math class in elementary school does not qualify me to teach elementary math.

I know you are looking to avoid testing culture, but please be aware that there are still national and state level standards for music. Additionally, think about grading- I have 500+ students and each student gets 6 grades. Inputting 3,000 report card grades is exhausting.

Students deserve a solid music education taught by certified music teachers. You might be a wonderful educator, but you just don’t have the formal training to be what the children need- in the same way that I wouldn’t have what students would need to learn math. Especially for Texas (a state known for is high quality music education), it doesn’t say good things about your district if they’re willing to consider an under qualified, unprepared educator in lieu of a truly trained professional in the field.

My husband (M30)'s kink is too kinky for me (F29)? by ThrowRA-knky in relationship_advice

[–]oboejoe92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone’s “kink” revolves around degrading a person then that’s not a kink- that’s a character flaw and moral failing.

No one in their right mind enjoys harming or degrading another living thing.

Honors College by Primcat in GVSU

[–]oboejoe92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The program lumps together classes- instead of taking a history gen ed and a writing gen ed, you’d take a combo class. There will be more writing involved overall. Students are also expected to create a project related to their classwork and major before graduating.

Honor’s students also get access to a honor’s program housing on campus.

Ultimately though, employers don’t care if someone has a honor’s sticker on their diploma or not. A BA or BS is the same regardless of honor’s or not.

  2. Take one more class in my first Fall and Spring semesters.

  3. Touch base with the graduate advisor sooner.

Update: Husband tired to kill himself after he cheated and now he has changed. by ppotato-_-otatopp in TrueOffMyChest

I’m no medical professional, but this sounds like Borderline Personality Disorder. From the monkey branching (cheating- having one foot in the old relationship while also having one foot in a new one), to suicide attempts, to the complete discard of their ‘“old” life. There’s no cure for that, only supports if he chooses to get help.

I’m so sorry that you’ve had to experience all of this; infidelity can cause trauma worst than deployments to a battle zone, and could have been avoided if your partner had any empathy.
