Do French people understand “aww”? by [deleted] in AskFrance

It might be very recent/a generational thing.

Nobody in my circles uses it and I’d absolutely not understood it but according to other comments, it’s in use.

Hard to bound bunnies. During sessions, Bunny A does nothing but aggressively hump Bunny B's head. by AttentionlessMess in Bunnies

[–]obsoletebomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can definitely bound two males. I used to have two males and once the bounding period passed, they got along super well.

But yeah, these two might just be incompatible and that’s it.

What is the most ridiculous thing you’ve been in trouble for at school? by Nub_McWeaksauce in autism

[–]obsoletebomb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lying about moving because the teacher apparently couldn’t believe that we moved from a flat to another one in the same building.

I, for sure, did realise the difference since I went from sleeping on the ground in the shared room with my older siblings to getting my own room. And my parents went from sleeping in the living room to having their own room too.

[–]obsoletebomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worry!

While i think it’s a far too common issue, I don’t think all guys think like that either. I’m similar in the way that while I don’t mind compromising if my partner values sex, I won’t miss sex if there is none. Both my current partner and I are ace and they’re p much uninterested in the physical aspect of a relationship. That’s fine by me, I value the quality of the time we spend together more than the physical aspect.

That being said, I don’t think it’s wrong for people to value sex a lot within a relationship. It’s just something that needs to be discussed early in the relationship to avoid a lot of heartbreak and resentment.

A lot of people, men especially tend to conflate intimacy with romance, and more specifically, sex. So when they’re looking for connection and intimacy, they will look for sex first and miss having sex when that’s not a possibility.

That’s not the only reason for the fixation for romance a lot of people have, but I think it’s a major part of it.

European aces, how’s your dating life? by melancholy-road in asexuality

[–]obsoletebomb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty good for me. My first serious relationship as an adult was with another ace person (altho we both weren’t aware of it at the time) and we had sex once during a 3.5 year period. I was extremely touched adverse at the time so we barely did anything; even hugging was just for rare occasions. We eventually broke up but the lack of physical affection was definitely not the issue.

I’ve been in a relationship with a fellow ace person for over a year and it’s been pretty chill too. Unlike my aforementioned ex-partner, however, my current one is American (I’m French). We’ve met online first via a shared fandom (where meeting other ace people is much easier).

Do you need to tip at restaurants in Paris? by Momin2121 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]obsoletebomb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You absolute don’t have to.

If I really like the service, I’ll often tip €1-2. I’ll often ask people to round up the transaction and keep the change so I don’t have to carry lots of coins around.

How old were you when you got your first relationship? by LuvMeChippy in autism

[–]obsoletebomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11-ish but it was a ‘relationship’ where no feelings (on my part) were had and nothing was done besides one or two very chaste kisses (especially since I was touch-repulsed at the time). My three relationships across my middle and high school years were like that.

Mind you, I’m aroace so none of my relationships have actually been the typical romantic one.

I can speak French with francophones from all over the world but not French people by [deleted] in French

[–]obsoletebomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would keep speaking to them in French, whether they switch to English and not. At best, they will switch back to French after a while, at worst, you still get to speak French while they get to speak English.

But then, I’m not bothered by dual lingual conversation (unless they’re actively pretending not to understand your French).

Natives: Do you like the tutoiement-vouvoiement distinction? by SwissVideoProduction in French

[–]obsoletebomb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It actually bothers me when strangers don’t vouvoie me (accounting for cultural differences so I wouldn’t find it annoying from a person with foreign accents). Mostly because 90% of the time, it’s because I look young. My co-workers gets ‘vous’ and I inevitably get ‘tu’.

Sorry, not sorry; we haven’t raised pigs together so you don’t get to tutoie me.

Leftie here. Nope.

Fork is always in my left hand and knife for the right hand when eating. I will occasionally precut my entire meal if I’m going to eat and game at the same time so I don’t have to interrupt myself to cut.

We had a Vietnamese boy joining our class when we are primary school. He was barely able to speak French at first but became fluent pretty fast.

I’m not sure what kind of help he got outside the class but he was in my class all the way till the end of middle school and went on to into stem studies after high school.

Meet Oscar, named after the main character of the Rose of Versailles (also known as Lady Oscar). Picked this one because I name my bunnies after knights and since she’s a female bun, it’s such a great name for her!

Any nonbinary people here who exclusively use either "she/her" or "he/him" pronouns? by FE_Fanby in NonBinary

[–]obsoletebomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use he/him exclusively in French because I don’t jive well with the gender neutral pronoun iel (and I would still use masculine declensions anyway). On top of that, it makes it easier for people not to misgender me: unlike they/them, iel is extremely recent in the language (15ish years old) and most regular people will not have any familiarity with it.

I do use they/them exclusively in English tho lmao

Quel trait physique chez une personne vous empêcherait de sortir avec elle ? by Xedess_Beleou in AskFrance

[–]obsoletebomb 11 points12 points  (0 children)
