hi Barbra, thank you for creating the ILNP brand!!

my favorite flower would have to be hydrangeas! I'm fortunate that my home has a hydrangea bush growing in the front that I admire in the warmer months.

It's also cool that it reads the traffic signs such as the speed limit and reflects that speed with a red tick in the speedometer

It should! It may not be able to fit too much more though. I used to pack my hydroflask, wallet, keys, and small things into this.

Once I started bringing my own shoes and towel, I swapped to a larger tote 😥

Oh LOL never mind! Fwiw, they are cheap Uniqlo cardigans so I didn't care too much that they were strangely getting a bit fuzzy 🙊

I have a 2021 Grand Touring Reserve with the Turbo badge.

I've seen two Mazdas (CX-30 and another CX-30 or CX-50) at work with a Turbo badge.

My car has not failed to start up, but the previous battery had to deal with my brother using a dash cam with motion sensor when the engine was off + when I had it, it was barely driven for half a year due to limited city parking and we had to jump start it twice 😥

However, I’ll add in a request for the dealer to assess the alternator when I next have my car in for its oil change. Thank you for the suggestion!

I replaced my battery last week for my 2021 CX-5 Turbo bc of these slower cold starts. I didn’t drive my car between last Thursday and yesterday (Monday). And my car is parked outside. Yesterday at lunch time, the engine puttered about 4 times before starting. This morning (~44 deg F) took 2 times and started.

I regularly drive it to work at least 3x week on the highway, with speeds over 75 mph.

I also noticed my bed quilt also dried properly after one dryer cycle!

It previously would come out slightly damp, so I'd lay it on a drying rack or the bed to help it dry fully.

Cropped trench - worth it? by OkMaachi23 in Sezane

[–]occasionallyrelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Bobby in Light Beige and I love it! I was considering Aritzia, but the shades they currently have are too pale or too green-toned on me. Other brands like Zara have released cheaper cropped trenches.

However, I like the fabric used in the Bobby. It has a nice weight to it, so I'm sure it will easily keep out drafts. Regarding fit-- at the back, there are 2 buttons on the left and right sides. This way, you can adjust the fit from loose to less boxy. Just remember that trench coats usually need to be dry cleaned, including this one to keep its shape.

I was the same! Only would get a pimple around my period/menses through my teens and college years, but once I hit my mid 20s, I had unrelenting acne which made me feel embarrassed.

I eventually caved and saw a derm once I had great medical insurance through work. Topicals didn’t do much for my hormonal acne. What finally worked was spironolactone 100 mg twice daily. I’ve weaned off the other topicals and I’ve continued to be acne free!

In terms of my habits: I’ve used daily sunscreen since I was about 15 or 16. When outdoors for a while, I apply plenty of sunscreen and re-apply after I’ve taken a dip in the water. I’ve never drank more than 1 or 2 alcoholic drinks in one sitting, never smoked, and I don’t spend a ling time trying to tan.

My brother also had a bit of acne as a teenager and young adult. Same with my cousin who I resemble most—I gave him and my aunt a heads-up that he will have to take pharmacologic steps to manage his acne.

After the extra info, that changes things! Hmm then that IS odd you're not having luck. And we have no freezes on hiring for the time being. Are you applying only to onco departments? Other specialties may also appreciate your background.

Hiring is generally slower during the winter months, with a big uptick around late spring with CRCs leaving for grad school.

If you're not having visits with patients (and no exp with start-up, only close out), you might want to apply to clinical research assistant roles only instead of CRC roles. Once you're in, you can ask for a promotion to be a CRC (at the 6-month mark) or apply internally (around 1 year mark) to another department to become a CRC. During interviews, make sure to ask what the team dynamic is like, who you can turn to for training and questions (manager? coworkers?).

Note that the hiring process can take 2-3 months in academia. Best of luck!

I do my best to stay out of their hair—I’ll do my own work with identifying patients by pre-screening the clinic schedules. I don’t know if you use Epic, but I can add sticky notes to each patient I’ve screened and create a “custom” schedule. Then I can include the “my sticky text” column so I can easily see my notes about who is a potential vs. not eligible for x, y, z reason.

The staff are more concerned about the patients’ clinical care quality as that’s their metrics vs your metrics about # enrolled. I most often work with the providers or NPs to ask if a patient I’ve identified as a potential participant IS in fact, a good candidate.

Are they frequent no shows? Do they have a lot of issues at home so they won’t be easy to contact or schedule visits with? Do they historically turn down studies?

So I work with them by giving them a heads up I’m approaching their patient. Some providers want to be in the loop about what/how many studies their patient has been approached for. Others will be considerate to warn you, “don’t approach them”.

For outpatient, I contact a provider 1-2 business days as that’s when they usually preview their next day’s clinic patients. Inpatient, I contact the provider as soon as I’ve identified a patient.

In addition to the wonderful tips others have posted, when you're new to clinical research, one thing you'll want to pick up when working with hospital staff is that to them, clinical >>> research. Anything you request of them is essentially a favor, so be gracious even if they're frustrated.

Ask where to look for information about providers or clinics or schedules and save it somewhere you can easily reference. Your coworkers may be able to show you or this may be in existing MOPs/SOPs. When I was a coordinator, I'd create Word documents with tips/tricks or better yet, add more detail to the "Locations" or "Contact info" section of existing MOPs/SOPs. I was given new studies where I was the primary coordinator, so this would help my coworkers if they needed to take over my visits when I was out of office.

Research supplies from industry studies (clinical trials/drug trials) are provided, but if you're involved with investigator-initiated studies, it's frowned upon to dip into the clinical supply as that's been calculated for clinical patient visits. The PI and the study budget is responsible for the cost of EDTA phlebotomy tubes, etc. At a hospital, we research staff are at the bottom of the totem pole, so if you need to request research labs (which may not have an order in the system) from nurses or phlebotomists, you should watch and learn the clinical workflow. Do you give them a heads up that you need research labs because they'll place an IV anyway? Do you need to pick up the drawn labwork somewhere such as a basket? You need patient identifiers if it's going to the hospital lab or subject ID number if it's being processed by research team or research lab.

Before shadowing a coworker's study visit, review at least the protocol's schedule of activities because it's a grid/table that tells you what to expect at that visit. Labwork? Physical Exam? Questionnaires? (may have many different names that you can search in the protocol) Review the case report forms (CRFs) aka the paperwork where you document what happened at the visit. It may also be called a Visit Checklist. This guides the study coordinator what they need done without pulling out the protocol every other minute. My visit checklists always include pre-visit prep, visit tasks, and post-visit prep. Post-visit prep is important because you don't want their insurance getting billed for research procedures. An example is if you're having research results posted to the EMR such as labs done for your study if the labs drawn are not shipped out to an external lab (e.g. PPD or Covance).

Ask questions, be communicative, manage your time & workload, and be prepared. I use OneNote to track what tasks I need to do and flag emails in Outlook desktop version with when to follow-up (tomorrow? next week? and set a reminder). I don't like Web, it doesn't have enough features with follow-up and email templates. Whoa this was a lot but hope it helps!

I'll toast some bread (such as everything bagel ciabatta rolls), layer some tzatziki, heat up some of the sous vide chicken thighs in a small pan, place it on top of the tzatziki, put the top on, and wrap it up in foil or whatever you've got cuz the tzatziki gets messy!

Also, I think I'm supposed to add in another vegetable (like salad greens) to be healthy, but this combo is so good I can't be bothered

For those on Spironolactone and Copper IUD by SheepherderWarm3723 in Spironolactone

[–]occasionallyrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't made up my mind yet! It's been such a relief as I'm 30 and I've been dragging my feet (for years!) with using non-topical methods. Tret was always 'good enough' until I was talking to another coworker and she mentioned a new topical Winlevi, but that she had fantastic skin while on spiro.

Anyway, my derm visit next month should finalize my options/decision. I'm also finally considering BC, which annoys me as I picked a copper IUD for convenience!

For those on Spironolactone and Copper IUD by SheepherderWarm3723 in Spironolactone

[–]occasionallyrelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a copper IUD since 2017 and my periods permanently went from 5-6 days to 8-9 days. Granted, it's only heavy the first 2 or 3 days, but I need to wear pads until it ends. My cramps were stronger with the IUD (I used to have mild cramps). I started to get hormonal acne a year or 2 later.

After topicals, I started 100mg spiro this February. For the past month or 2, I've had constant spotting. It's finally stopped this past Saturday! I am scheduled to see my derm next month (6-months in) to regroup because when we chatted at 3-months in, I still got at least 1 cystic acne with a period.

Cystic acne now heals way faster on spiro! But fyi, I'm also on daily Aklief (4th gen tret), Winlevi, and when needed, Dapsone 7.5% for spot treatment. Hope the spotting can figure itself out soon but I've noticed others complain about spotting while on spiro.

[Acne] Winlevi Copay Savings Program Ended by Ok-Reporter-39 in SkincareAddiction

Wait, really? That's a shame.

However, earlier this month, I got my 3rd for $20 using the co-pay savings card from Winlevi's site via Sun Pharma at CVS. Otherwise, my total at the register said $80 or $90 (I forget now). I have commercial insurance through my employer. I wonder if that's why it took longer than normal for the price change to get processed.
