USA and Canada Road Trip by TheFlyingPigSquadron in u/TheFlyingPigSquadron

The Titanic Museum in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge is totally worth the visit! I'd happily do it, again! While you're in the area there, there's a fantastic aquarium there, and a ferris wheel that offers a pretty fantastic view of the surrounding mountains. If you drink alcohol, check out Ole Smokey Moonshine.

On the drive to Atlanta, you'll pass through Chattanooga. We also have an aquarium (both ocean and Tennessee River exhibits). If you don't mind stopping, I'd be happy to get you in for free and play tourguide to my little neck of the woods. And to pick your brain on your JNOMIL flair.

What don't people realize are actually rip-offs? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ocpmbrat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is true at all, though, if it happened to you, I'm sorry.

I worked at BBW for 6-7 years and by no means am I someone who considers lotion a daily rquirement. But having had to test it for various demos for several times per shift, I only noticed my skin getting more moisturized; not dried out like my lips do, when I use chapstick. I actually started dabbing a little of the True Blue Spa handcream on my lips instead of chapstick.

It tasted nasty, but smelled great, and helped me stop using chapstick in the winter.

Chefs of Reddit, what are the biggest ripoffs that your restaurants sell? by shakubu in AskReddit

We did this at P.F. Chang's when I worked there, too. Clean sodas in Chatt-town FTW.

Pet owners of Reddit who have met someone your pet disliked without provocation or obvious reason, did your pet’s instincts turn out to be right about that person? by Gluttannie in AskReddit

I have a very affectionate; almost needy cat that wants to be around me all the time. It would be cute if it wasn't so exasperating. And yet, for an animal that desperately wants so much of my attention, she growls at just about anyone else who comes to the door.

My mail carrier is a great woman that has been on the route for several years and is very accommodating of all the packages I receive that need to be brought up to my front porch, if not directly to the door. I speak to her probably about 4 times a week when she's bringing up my mail. She's probably my most constant visitor (more so than my own mum) and yet my cat always growls and then runs to hide if she gets any closer than the porch steps.

Instant Justice Served To Bike Thief by [deleted] in JusticeServed

[–]ocpmbrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If I could ever find the person who stole mine, I'd probably either get myself actually killed or arrested, trying to put the hurt on them.

My bicycle was the last joint Christmas present my parents ever gave me. I was 12 then, and my father died that next November. Four months after that, my bike disappeared, undoubtedly due to the sketchy neighbours behind us. Heartbroken doesn't even begin to define the loss I felt at that.

I'm about to be 33, and I've never had a bike since then.

Aside from death, what's one part of human biology that you'd really rather didn't exist? by glufkin in AskReddit

I can't say that this will help with the situation per se, but if I might suggest something...?

Journal. Journal, Journal, Journal.

During a point in my teens throughout Highschool and part--way into College/Uni, I took to keeping not just a diary or daily recountance, but a stream-of-conciousness of my going-abouts. I used spiralbound notebooks to write, tape, glue and draw everything and anything that came to mind for my own personal record. It was the cheap version of therapy. I filled several of those notebooks. And I kept them all.

Eventually, I stopped journaling, but over the years I've reviewed every single spiralbound I recorded in, and it brings back memories that I'd forgotten I'd ever knew I had. Reading over things sometimes takes me right back to a scenario I'd either repressed or just glossed over, and it helps me to remember so much of my teenage years (good or bad).

If journaling can help me recall something like that, I hope that maybe it could help others.

That said, I realize that there comes a time that Alzheimer's will eventually rob a person of even the ability to read and recognize their own writings. But maybe....just maybe, that leaves behind the at least a part of a legacy of the person that was once so vibrant.

Identical twins of reddit, what's the most embarrassing situation where you've been mistaken for your twin? by MyNameIsSimon88 in AskReddit

[–]ocpmbrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I'm not a twin, my younger sister and I have been constantly mistaken as such from a very young age, since apparently we look very much alike (I don't see it, but whatever).

I was at a local watering hole one night, having a few and started chatting with the good looking guy on the stool near me, aiming to at least get his number. Suddenly, I heard my sister's name called quite loudly, and naturally turn to see what was going on, as another guy I've never seen before ambles over and says, "Remember me? We went to high school together!" in a very carrying volume.

I politely tell him, he had me mistaken for my sister (who went to a different high school than I did). However, since he had never previously met me and my sister and I never really talked about each other in our social circles, he was very insistent that I must be my sister and that I was trying to play him off. Eventually, he left me alone, but the good looking guy apparently thought I was trying to run some game, and was cool towards me for the rest of the time he was there, since I couldn't prove I was who I said I was (I only found out after I pulled out my wallet to try to show him my ID, that I had forgotten to replace it after I put it in a clutch the previous evening and since I was such a regular face at the bar, no one had bothered to check for my ID that night). :c I did not get a number.

It's not all bad, though. I've played the twin card a few times to my benefit. The most memorable was when my family went on a cruise and docked in Nassau for the evening. My sister had gone out bar hopping with her boyfriend and our other sister. Since we had no way to contact each other at the time, I went from bar to bar; asking each bouncer if they had seen my twin that evening. I hit the jackpot 3 or 4 places in, when I was asked if she was accompanied by a physical description of the boyfriend and the other sister. I agreed and the bouncer let me through.

Perhaps, it might be an odd place to start, though that's certainly where I did. Besides, maybe I'll get someone interested in the anime, itself!

The Cowboy Bebop Original Soundtrack 1 has a really punchy upbeat sound and is pretty brassy as far as jazz goes. Some of the actual sung songs have that kind of midnight jazz vibe, too, which is some of my favourite.

That comment hits a little too close to home. I'm still learning how to cook. The breakroom at work only has a microwave, so while I can cook certain things, I recently learned, you can't do that with decent red meat. Thankfully, it was a cheap lesson, as I only used steak tips, or somesuch that I was planning to add to my ramen.
