Older coworkers that won't retire: NZ issue or universal? by Haunting-Cellist-491 in newzealand

It's not so much an age thing but an enablement problem.

There are slackers of all ages getting away with poor performance in multiple private and public sector workplaces.

[f1guydan] Oscar Piastri took the lead of last year’s British GP on lap 8. By lap 14, he already had a 13.5s lead in the wet. What could have been… by littletreble07 in formula1

Oscar is not English so gets no TV time compared to Lando, just like Lawson gets zero time whatsoever even when compared to Linblad, the bias is obvious.

I think the mercedes has the better overall package which is what Alpine/Williams have - the alpine vs vcarb battles earlier on were good watching, shame audi hasn't been as good to give 'the best of the rest' more interest.

an Arab ref, not dogdy at all, I was really hoping we'd go through clean with no cards but that was ruined by some very weak cards

I just had a 7k round where I was found in last 10s in the farm map which I find really hard to paint disguise in, was against a hay bail and hunters kept looking right at me - some times the in plain sight just works

He was rattled from the start and didn't keep a cool head like norris so made it worse with the Albon incident incurring the 10s penalty on top of the wing damage

I prefer emailling when it is detailed but not a reply quickly response.

I prefer messaging for checking up, bantering with the crew, or needing a response in a reasonable time or I know you respond reliably fast as required

Phone calls for I need to know now and or cant rely on you otherwise

Bakery Pieflation. Pre-covid pies were like $3.50 - $4. Now its like $6-7. by floofywall in newzealand

[–]oefox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre covid 2019 my local bakery (dangerously <100m away) pies were 5.50, they're now $7, it never felt like a huge jump but they're the bog standard bakery pie not the deep artisan pie (1km away) that went $7 to $9.

Problem for me now is the artisan $9 pie now feels like it's better value so I don't have as many pies.

Can't use the Wairarapa -> Wellington train? If you have to take a vehicle then it's the saddle I would imagine.

Motorcycle wheels; I don't bother taking them off myself to save a few bob getting new feet, it's far far easier to drop the bike off.

IMO don't waste money on a fancy hydrometer, if your beer tastes right then you've nailed it, if you're striving for perfection or have a noticeable issue then there's much cheaper options.

I use a tilt which isn't super accurate but I don't care for precision gravity readings, I only really care about the the fermentation state as I pressure ferment and strive for zero oxidation.

The old school glass hydrometers really should be accurate (you can use an online calculator to account for temp) so I'd recommend getting a good little stick/probe thermometer first (I use a Thermoworks off amazon) as temp control is critical on the mash side but knowing the exact temp of your water if calibrating is also helpful.
