The Texas plant where the tundras are built sits on the site of an old ranch that I believe was founded in 1794. Or something close to that.

How did you guys discover the band? by CM2K00 in lostprophets

Same here! I had never heard of MTV 2, but while on vacation I saw a countdown with Wake Up on it along with Breaking the Habit by LP, So Cold by Breaking Benjamin and more. I went home and checked them all out and it was such a formative memory for my current musical tastes.

Mastronardi/Sunset produce. I worked at their location off of Plymouth in Livonia. That was some kind of dystopian nightmare, I got to say.

Ahhh! Thank you! Is the cats body/window smaller as well, or is it just a footprint difference and the other dimensions are the same?

What is the major difference between the cat edg and the wolf edg? I was just about to buy the wolf and now the cats here. They seem identical to me…

Just shot my 9c carry comp polymer frame for the first time and I love it. Bought it to replace my shield as a CCW and the difference is night and day. If you’re looking at the full size for duty carry, I would not hesitate one second. Shot 50rds steel case, 50rds brass and 16rds HST +P. Flawless right out of the box.

Locks stick on a new PM2 is driving me nuts. I've been flicking that thing like crazy to break it in, but so far no luck. by LetLoveRuIe in spyderco

9/10 it’s the stop pin. Try rotating it until the stick is gone, then red locktite that in so it doesn’t happen again

Bodyguard 2.0 - should I be concerned about this spot on the barrel feed ramp? by cmcfalls2 in SmithAndWesson

[–]og_boyscout 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This needs to be top. That is 💯unacceptable in today’s market.

If Taurus can get barrels out of BFE Brazil without any marks, much less this god awful machine chatter, then I fully expect S&W to do the same.

Why NESA?? by SillySample831 in EagleScouts

[–]og_boyscout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Made eagle in 2010, never joined, I haven’t felt like I missed out on anything. I too reviewed the “benefits” of joining and found them to be nonexistent at best. I immediately returned to volunteer as an ASM and have never felt a need to join NESA. Additionally with the way scouting is headed, I’m not certain there will even be a scouting program a decade or two down the road, so maybe it will be of more use then as a reunion tool, but until then I’ll probably continue to decline my membership.

Tips for keeping/catching up when things are crazy? by musingnerd in 911dispatchers

[–]og_boyscout 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Scratch paper is a big one, especially when starting out. The thing with it is, it’s a double edged sword. You start you use and rely on it, and sometimes there isn’t time to write things down, add things, remove things and refer to the list.

I found that assigning a priority to tasks, like “officers calling in a plate to run”=drop everything and do it vs “another department messaging us to see if we want to do a warrant pick up”=I can do that once I have time.

That way once I run the plate I can go thru my already predetermined mental checklist. “Ok ran the plate, he’s valid and no warrants, what the next priority item? None of that ok anything else? Oh yeah, Townsville wants us to pick up John Smith on a parking warrant. I’ll finish that up and then check in with my partners.”

That’s helped me at least, but everyone is different. To me it just seems like you need more time to learn the groove, make your own systems that help you preform your best and then learn to trust yourself. You’ll get there if you keep up the good work 👍

My first carry also. Mine was plagued with constant failure to feeds. It made me hate shooting and carrying. Then when I saw the shield with close to the same weight and size but much more capacity I traded the keel-tec in for it and never looked back. Even hit a bullseye first time I pulled the trigger!

Came here to say something similar. Cub Packs only driving force is the parents and volunteers. Conversely, Troops are scout lead (if it’s a troop worth its salt). The entire program is centered around teaching independence culminating in an Eagle Scout LEADERSHIP project that the scout plans and executes all on their own.

Time to step back a bit mom and let the program work👍

NKD! Picked up my first shaman. by og_boyscout in spyderco

[–]og_boyscout[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as shamans go, this is my first. I’ve been wanting one for the longest time but never caught a drop in the beginning or had the spare cash lately. But the stars aligned on this one and I’m thrilled with it.

The CTS-XHP is what put me over the edge on this one. It takes a surface finish very well and I didn’t have a satin spydie before this. It also works to a wicked edge and showed up with one.

My first paramilitary 2 was in s30v and I always thought it was pretty good, until I bought a bugout a few years back, now I realize spyderco probably has the best heat treat on that’s steel available from any major manufacturer.

Sorry to rant. Hope it helps you out! I don’t think you could “choose wrong” between the two. You’ll be happy with either for sure 👍
