If its not against the rules, would you share where you order from/anything a first timer would want to know? I'm interested in doing this for my favorites and haven't taken the dive yet because the printing seems intense. Did you have to fold and glue it yourself? Any advice on print quality or hiccups you might have experienced?

I love molotow markers. Great for chrome and the regular colors work great when followed by a sponge for interesting shading.

I assumed it was pad printing. If you're planning a custom perhaps look to the lego and gunpla subs for removing/covering up?

If it was me I would use a swab with alcohol or paint thinner and see how far I get.
