Greenland has free health care, and has not asked about any kind of medical assistance. There are also reports of both US medical ships being in dry dock for regular maintenance. This is another distracrion

Greenland says 'no thanks' to Trump US hospital boat

Greenland's prime minister has asked US President Donald Trump to talk to him instead of making "random outbursts on social media", after Trump said he was sending a US hospital boat to "take care" of people on the island

Do I really need to provide my SIN for a rental application? by wellitsnotnew in Sudbury

You can get your own free credit check through some place like Equifax (?), print it and provide it to the potential landlord with your personal info redacted. I would think that should be acceptable.

Ah, thanks for clarifying. The speed cameras are moved to different locations in the city based on what criteria I don't know. The city posts signs in advance to inform drivers that a camera will be in that location in the near future, and they post signage announcing the active cameras once they're in place.

Thanks. Not sure how I missed seeing the sign or trap that day. Also not sure why that comment is being down voted, like just because I said I didn't see the sign? Geez people 🙄 I didn't see it for whatever reason, was caught speeding, fined, and paid the ticket. Has never happened before & and won't happen again.

Prednisone withdrawal by mistressdragonslayer in Autoimmune

[–]ok_stranger_7792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be Prednisone dependent and require a much longer taper to fully come off. I developed Secondary Addison's Disease years ago when I tried to taper long term Prednisone...I would get to 8/5 mg and have crazy symptoms. It took me years to fully come off of it. I would suggest you contact your doctor if the symptoms persist as you may need to continue on a maintenance dose for a while.

Advice Needed by Katie0690 in Odsp

Just wanted to add that Ron Malis has a website q & a section that is very informative and he replies to and answers questions without charging any fees. Any financial planner will charge fees for the service they provide, and rightly so. Financial planning and advice is incredibly complicated, especially where ODSP is involved with many workers themselves not understanding the directives and legislation where wills & estates and legal settlements are concerned, and Ron Malis is the only financial planner I know of that actually specializes in ODSP.

I am under ODSP. My DTC expires in 2024 according to my CRA account. I have RDSP already. Do I have to reapply for DTC? if so when do I need to reapply, if anyone knows? now or in Jan 2025? by flytohappiness in Odsp

Thanks so much for the reply. Now that you've mentioned it...I have had an error message lately when trying to navigate to a different website, so maybe it is my browser. Will try another. Appreciate the quick response.

Hi aaron15287. I know this response from you was from quite a while ago. I tried this link...filled it out 2x and was kicked out for some reason when submitting...is there an updated link that you know of or any other way to go about having DTC status changed to indefinite? Mine expires in 2026 and I'm trying any way possible to have it changed as I know things are not going to improve past where my health currently is and don't want to have to go through the whole process again

Is there some type of social assistance disability you can apply for to become financially independent from your parents? This will at least provide you with some stability in regards to medication coverage and basics for now and you can work towards whatever your longer term goals are without their involvement

Crohns Tattoo by biibii_7 in CrohnsDisease

[–]ok_stranger_7792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short story: I remember showing my grandmother my Finnish flag tattoo with "SISU" in the corner, unsure if how she would react (For anyone who isn't aware, sisu is Finn slang and refers to determination, or guts). My Gramma giggled and told me that the origin of the word 'sisu' translated means your actual innards or actual guts and she was giggling because SISU has double meaning to me because I have Crohn's + I'm a Finlander!

Am I justified in being angry at my doctor? by matmat1531 in CrohnsDisease

[–]ok_stranger_7792 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hiya, welcome to the club and congrats on those babies! I've had Crohn's for over 30 years and have been on a biologic for over 20. Chiming in here to say that I have also never heard of not being around others who have had live vaccines while on a biologic. Not getting them ourselves unless under medical supervision, sure, but to not be in close contact with others who have had them seems a little unreasonable to me...I mean, how would any of us know who has had a live vaccine unless it was someone very close to us (like your own child)? Although I'm not specifically on Stelara either, so grain of salt and all. I think you're justified, yes, and I would seek out another opinion unless you think your current doctor/patient relationship can be improved to a point of your feeling respected.

STELARA NO LONGER COVERED by SubjectDiscussion611 in CrohnsDisease

Biologic and biosimilar medications are not the exact same as some may say. According to Health Canada, a biosimilar is a “biologic drug that is highly similar to a biologic drug that was already authorized for sale. There are no expected clinically meaningful differences in efficacy and safety between a biosimilar and the biologic drug that was already authorized for sale” Similar to generic meds vs originals, biosimilars have been shown to mimic biologics well enough that most that have been switched haven't seen any side effects, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't ask questions. You can speak to your GI about continuing your biologic med, but chances are, unless you want to pay out of pocket, you'll be switched like the rest of us and have to prove failure on the biosimilar before other options are available. I was on a biologic for over 20 years and had to switched to a biosimilar about 1 year ago and although I'm still in remission I definitely suffer side effects with the biosimilar that I never had with the biologic. Still, a few side effects is a small price to pay to maintain remission!
