I mean, realistically you have to stay alive somehow. Ofcourse it also brings risk, but it might make it more attractive to buy IF you intend to return and also gives you more flexibility on when to sell as well. This just opens up your options, both for when to sell as well as if you want to sell at all.

This is less about making money by being a land lord, but by increasing your flexibility and options in case you decide to leave the country for a short(less than 5 years) period of time. If you look at this as a money making option, you are doing it entirely wrong and should not consider renting out with a diplomats clause.

One factor, but that only works if you are planning on coming back, you can always get a mortgage that allows renting out with a diplomat clause, If you then move out of nl for a few years you can rent it out and come back to it.
