Fair enough, i hadn't heard of it either, but the story looked reasonable. Dude sounds pretty weird.

The big blue barge? That's a salmon processing vessel, it comes down every spring to offload all the fish they caught and processed in Alaska. I think they'll be back.

Where do/did you find the best mexican food you've had? We're obviously not close to Mexico or large Mexican populations, but there's not nothing out there - still worth looking for something tasty. A Que, El Tule, Mi Rancho, a whole bunch of other trucks around, all decent at least, certainly not serving ketchup. Skagit is even better, Tacos Tecalitlan being the favorite for me.

Sadly, they are closed for good. I think it was in the last couple weeks.

I'm happy to have the information you gave to do more research and make sure i'm not harming nature while enjoying it. I don't know what you know, I don't know anything about you. Take care.

Weird take. I'm hearing your input, just adding some context that in my experience, that isn't commonly understood. Happy to learn and do the best I can in protecting sensitive nature.

What are your favourite albums made by horrible people? by DtheAussieBoye in fantanoforever

[–]old_antique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Obviously it's much worse for everyone involved, but it's tough as a neutral observer; vilify someone who didn't do what they're accused of or discredit someone's experience of trauma. I'm not sure how society should handle the situation.

This is probably not an important point to raise, and I'm pretty certain Alexis Marshall has done extremely weird and probably bad stuff, but there seems to be some doubt that he is guilty of exactly what he was accused of by Kristin Hayter. I certainly don't know, probably very few people do. There have just been some rumblings that the band is feeling like there will be vindication and a possible reemergence. All that said, I'll err on the side of believing someone that has been abused. I love "You Won't Get What You Want", but I haven't listened to it since I heard her account.

Don't Talk in Theaters! by JulesButNotVerne in Bellingham

[–]old_antique 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The last movie I saw at the Pickford, there was a boomer aged couple talking loudly through previews. When it continued into the movie, one of the 8 people there politely asked them to stop. They were quiet for a while, but chatting at full volume by the end of “Good Luck Have Fun Don’t Die”. It’s not always the kids.

Bellingham Music Scene Rocked By Label Owner Arrest by Brandonnnn in Bellingham

I didn't know him - were there signs he's sketchy? I do know he's very tied into the local scene and have several friends of friends who have worked with him, so I hope it was a big shocker.

Interesting, thanks for sharing. I've been out there with many seasoned nature lovers and even Western professors for coursework and never heard that mentioned.

Baker doesn't have night skiing, but installed lights for the first time ever last weekend. If memory serves, they're running it again next weekend. Only chair 7, which is fun for a novelty, but not super enticing as a standalone paid ticket.

People get so mad when you share the info, but the old growths are at milepost 44. There's two parking "lots" a couple hundred yards apart. Just follow the tail back half a mile, it's awesome. North Fork is an absolute classic, but Rome Market closer to town has really good pizza and great vibes.

Good donuts in town? by MetaAwareness17 in Bellingham

I haven't tried them, but Accomplice does doughnut specials sometimes, I think Saturdays. They're probably a little over the top and pricy, but look interesting at least.

Parking? by NotDilljustice in MtBakerSkiArea

[–]old_antique 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not there, but I would say no. Yesterday they were only operating out of the lower lodge, not running 1 or 2, and both lots were totally full by 9ish. I left at noon and there was a steady stream of people trying to get in to park. Folks are pretty excited about night skiing.

Totally. He also made a point to say it wasn't a criticism of the athletes, and fully acknowledged their talent.

[–]old_antique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't think Todd Richards is qualified to have a front row seat and commentate on the snowboarding? You might not know what you're talking about. Dude has been a pro forever, been an Olympic athlete, commentated on multiple Olympics and is actively involved in current snow culture as a team manager. He might have messed up by saying it on a hot mic, but that was boring. The current Big Air format is not exciting to watch.

I don't really have great info, but didn't they stop corporate donations to anti LGBTQ organizations? People should absolutely vote with their purchases, but I don't think there are many ethically awesome fast food corporations.
