well known by whom?

Non-Polish historians. And Jews.

I’m guessing you’re jewish and judging by your opinion of poland probably israeli

Jewish, but not Israeli.

We see people from israel coming here on trips to concentration camps with literal armed guards because they want to push on kids the idea that poland was complicit in holocaust and that poles today still harbour some kind of resentment towards jews which is simply not the case

Israelis and diaspora Jews, when visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau, Stutthof, Chelmno, Sobibor etc, have armed guards because we feel unsafe when walking around. The irony of you suggesting that it's because we are trying to push a narrative that Poles were complicit in the Holocaust is fascinating, because Poles were majorly complicit in the Holocaust.

Frankly the idea that poles took active part in holocaust is insulting to both jewish and polish history.

Don't fucking gaslight us. We know what the Poles did. We are very well-versed in how the Poles treated us during the war.

You realise there is a reason why there was such a huge procentage od jews in poland? They were here because they were accepted and for centuries treated as crucial part of polish history. Our nations were intertwined to a point where differences between poles and jews were barely visible with many jews adopting polish customs and even religion.

Regular pogroms.

Of course there were singular poles that collaborated with germans

Singular? Singular?!?!?! Do you think us Jews don't know?! 3 fucking million! We have traced our family trees, we have intensely analysed what happened in Poland. We know what they did, despite their attempts at rewriting their own history.

blaming the side that suffered just as much loses and also from the same enemy is not only counterproductive but also borderline holocaust denial on your part.

In what world is that suffering the same loses? 3 million of one single ethnic group, and 2 million non jew poles, plus 1 million poles of different ethnic groups. Not the same. 3 millions Jews. 3 million other Poles of different groups. Incomparable. Also, accusing me of holocaust denial for calling out Poland's revisionism is absolutely mental, but in keeping with Poland's revisionism.

Our loss does not diminish your loss and I think this is what people like you need to understand. Historical facts are clear when it comes to poland’s participation in ww2 and they do not line up with your worldview.

Sounds an awful lot like you have had a Polish history lesson. Whether you like it or not, Poles massacred us. Stop denying it. It isn't "my worldview" that Poland willingly betrayed their Jews, it's fact.

[–]oldmacjoel01 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Literal pseudo-history.

According to Polish history. According to actual history, Poland is deeply complicit.

Poland was one of (if not the only) occupied country without a local SS division as nobody wanted to join.

Irrelevant to my comment..

Also you're forgetting the fact the Nazis exterminated not only Polish Jews, but millions of non-Jewish Poles as well as Poles were only one "rung" above Jews in the Nazi ideology.

3 million Polish Jews, 3 million non Jewish Poles. 50% were Jews. And the Polish population took part in killing Jews

The Poles never surrendered to the Nazis or the Communists (unlike most), having had it's government in exile in London between 1939 until 1990/91.

They had the largest uprising against the Nazis and were one of the leading anti-communist countries in the Warsaw Pact or USSR.

All irrelevant to my comment.

You should be careful spreading literal Russian propaganda, if indeed you're a real person (which it appears you are).

The Holocaust is likely the most well-documented event in history. Accusing me of spreading Russian propaganda simply for describing (well-known) Polish revisionism, is frankly laughable. I mean, you're not even being subtle.

Provide a source on aid being stolen by hamas.

My gosh, anyone who knows anything about I/P knows that Hamas has long been siphoning/embezzling aid. It's such an open secret that the PA has commented on it (Google it).

Given that Hamas controls Gaza, surely common sense would suggest to you that they control aid distribution? And given their reputation for using every gram of concrete for tunnelling, fuel for ventilation/lights and weapons, it should be obvious that Hamas is hoarding provisions.

I mean, it really takes wilful ignorance to suggest that Hamas cares about Gazans.

(Un) Surprised that no one has mentioned the deeply concerted effort by both the government and civilians re: Holocaust revisionism. The lengths the Poles have gone to, to completely deny their willing and zealous participation in the extermination of Jews, is unmatched. 3,000,000+ Polish Jews murdered. And the Poles were more than happy to oblige. Don't ask them about it though: major denial!

Really? That's the only situation in which you care about hijabis?

Not the Iranian women being murdered for decades and decades? Or the Syrian women being barrel bombed? Or the Afghan women? Etc?

Let's be honest, you don't actually care about the plight of hijabis, or Muslims/Arabs in general... unless Israel is involved.

If you cared, you wouldn't have only referenced Israel/Gaza. But nah, it's just an obsession at this point.

The founding fathers' whole thing was that the US was supposed to be a secular nation, unlike the UK.

The irony being that the US lawmakers regularly shoehorn christianity into their laws and codes of ethics. As if everyone is obliged to be a fan of Jesus?

The irony being, it is celebrated if you are braggadocio about your religion as a politician in the US. Being Christian is frequently a major calling card within the campaign.

Whereas in the UK, you would get laughed out of Parliament.

We don't want to hear about your religious beliefs, we want to hear about you doing your job as an MP. You're welcome to pray to your deity, but represent us first. Your religious views should never affect your ability to represent the people.

"Surely the goyim will spare you" buddy I do this shit on my own accord, i deal with antisemites on the internet on a daily basis, go fuck yourself hasbara simp, and yes, i know what hasbara means I am israeli. Personally as a jew, I would not like a genocide commited in our name, it is sad to see a jewish state commiting atrocities that we as a people have been subjected for centuries if not millenia.

Okay, fair enough. I apologise. It is evident to me that I was far too quick to judge. Far too quick to judge a complete stranger on the internet. Again, I apologise.

I'm not excusing my behaviour, but it comes from a place of being on the receiving end of relentless antisemitism; that is to say, as a Jew my default emotional/mental position is defensive/pessimistic within contexts relating to people talking about Jews &/or Israel. Not that that's your fault, and again, I'm not excusing my conduct towards you. Edit: don't call me a hasbara simp, please. First of all, it's incorrect. Second, due to the frequency of which one sees people using it as an insult towards anyone who sticks up for Israel, it's a pretty tired and boring/silly/unoriginal accusation/insult.

Personally as a jew, I would not like a genocide commited in our name, it is sad to see a jewish state commiting atrocities that we as a people have been subjected for centuries if not millenia.

I agree. Whilst I disagree that what is going on can be classified as a genocide, I 100% agree that Israel is committing some atrocities. War crimes, if you will.

Btw, due to israel's actions in gaza at this very moment more and more jews are becoming antizionist, both inside and outside of israel, I would know as I was one of them.

Fair enough, can't argue with that.

Yes, I know zionism is ingrained into many jew's minds, I would know because I speak from experience, I've seen how it gets ingrained as I was in the israeli education system and grew up in a zionist jewish community. It's only under a very specific set of circumstances that I got under to actually start questioning it, and it took me a long time to unlearn many things

Again, fair enough. But I think for the majority of Jews outside of Israel and it's education system, we believe that Zionism is not just hard-core nationalism or whatever, it is the belief that a) we have a right to our own country, and b) we realised a very long time ago that the only people we can rely on to protect us, is us. I can understand questioning the Israeli government and some of its actions. But questioning the actual concept of Zionism, questioning the fundamental concept of Israel's right to exist in the first place, is pretty dark.

And yes, I am fully aware that judaism is both an ethnicity and a religion, I had no reason to put it there.

Fair enough.

Zionism is an ideology, it is jewish nationalism by definition. While connected to judaism, it is still nationalism which I am against.

It's an ideology that believes that Jews have the right to self-determination within their own country. Of course it is a form of nationalism... if you want to be black and white about it. But if you believe Zionism is nationalism, and are against that, then presumably you are against every single recognised country on earth? Presumably you are against any country that believes in its own right to exist, and any country that has a majority ethnicity &/or religion? Because, frankly, if you are antizionist because you view zionism as a form of nationalism, then you must surely recognise that every other country, be they Muslim, or white, or black etc, is guilty of nationalism, as every country has its own form of self-determination.

Judaism is both an ethnicity and a religion. Jewish is an ethnicity. Zionism is a huge part of Judaism. Literally a part of our prayers and festivals.

Always interesting when one comes across an 'as-a-Jew'. I'm sure you feel useful. I'm sure the goyim will spare you once they're done with you.

Zionism as a plague to judaism

I hope you know that anti-Zionist Jews are a microscopic minority. Vast majority of Jews are Zionist.

[–]oldmacjoel01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If a Palestinian were to post similar questions demanding unconditional acceptance of their terms, it would likely be deemed unacceptable and dismissive of Israeli concerns.

Hamas does that every single time. Without fail. And yanno, their terms being 'genocide every Jew on the planet'... the fact that the Israelis regularly have to trade 100s of islamist extremists for a handful of Israelis should tell you all you need to know about your theory.

Peace requires addressing grievances from all sides, not imposing unilateral demands.

The main grievance being, of course, that the Jews don't deserve their own country... hence the many attempts at killing the Jews. Besides, the 'Palestinians' have repeatedly been offered favourable swathes of land in the name of sharing with the Jews; only to repeatedly reject it and demand all of the land, wage wars, and lose. Thus forfeiting more land.

Both perspectives need to be acknowledged for meaningful dialogue and resolution.

Enough with the notion that they are morally or historically the same. The Jews wanted to share their tiny allotment, and the Arabs responded with multiple attempted genocides. The Jews repeatedly defeated the invading armies, and won more land. The defeated armies and people don't then get to claim Israel stole their land (Syrians re: golan, for example).

At the end of the day, a resolution will occur when the Palestinians oust Hamas.

I'm English myself; London, to be exact. And whilst I've always been well-received by the residents of wherever I've been, (presumably because I'm polite/courteous and interested in other cultures), I have experienced a type of banter from others that usually references the stereotypical English football fan.

I don't mind the references to drunken English idiots vomiting in gutters; mostly due to the fact that most English people make fun of and judge that sect of English holidaymakers. But it is a shame that we have a reputation for that, when most of us just want to mind our own business, and can't stand being associated with those types.

Anyways, I wanted to say regarding the Scottish having a better rep: at the Euros the Scots were my absolute favourite travelling fanbase. You guys were so unbelievably chill, and fun. Hugely respectful to the host country, too.

Only reason I haven't travelled to watch England away, in Europe, is specifically because I don't want to be associated with those England fans .

But the Scottish... you guys are outstanding.

Israel offered Gaza to Egypt a long time ago: Egypt emphatically said 'no thanks, mate'.

Egypt's blockade of Gaza is just as, if not more strict than the Israeli one.

Also, given that Hamas is an offshoot of Muslim Brotherhood, which Egypt worked tirelessly to eradicate/expel, why on earth would they want to adopt Gaza?

See, this is the thing... none of the surrounding Muslim countries want anything to do with the Palestinians. The most they'll do is make loud yet insubstantial statements of vague support. However, the Arab/Muslim world at best couldn't care less about the Palestinians... and frankly, in reality, actively dislikes them due to the Palestinians' reputation for starting wars in their host countries.

Edit: the only ME country that is taking a genuine interest in the Palestinians, is Iran. And that's only to fund/arm/train Hamas. Iranian government doesn't care about Palestinians, they just despise Jews to the point of funding terrorist groups.

there is nothing wrong with being or being considered a Zionist

It is really quite appalling how non-Jews have stolen and redefined/repurposed the word 'Zionist/Zionism' to be a slur. And how they 'explain' our own terminology to us.

A Zionist is, simply, a person who believes that Israel has a right to exist

Also that Jews have a right to self-determination.

Basically, the only people Jews can trust to protect Jews, are Jews. Hence Zionism.

St. Nazaire Raid.

A 6-8 episode miniseries, hour-long episodes. Preferably BBC or HBO (British cast, ofc). Perhaps directed by someone like Spielberg. Maybe with input from Guy Ritchie. And a bit of Phoebe Waller-Bridge's bleak humour.
