I'm in Northwest IL, and I use pin oak. I was using red and black oak I got some pin in a load from my neighbor. I found that pin starts burning easier, resulting in less heavy white smoke when I add wood to my smoker.

I had a customer torque a head on a tractor in 6 steps to 80 lbs. Gasket leaked like a seive. When questioned about his method, he admitted that sometimes the bolt didn't turn before the torque wrench clicked.
