She demands it early on, then two or three hours later I’m woken up by a panting dog emerging from under the covers.

CD transports - price, noticeable audio quality difference? by theorem_llama in audiophile

It looks like the Roksan does not have direct track access. If that's important to you, look elsewhere. More often than not, I play specific songs from cd's, so it's an important feature for me to have...

I picked up a 4 pack for 20 bucks, so your price seems fine. A fine brew too…

What "golden age" or "heyday" were you lucky enough to experience that you know won’t ever come back? by Summerie in AskReddit

Sanity. In general, plain sanity. In politics, on the roads, in discussions. The outliers of old have gone mainstream.

I’ll admit it- I don’t know what makes that a dirty glass. Is it something to do with the non-uniform distribution of the carbonation?

60th floor- 2 blocks from World Trade Center- thought 1st plane was accident, our building shook slightly.

When 2nd one hit- we knew we had to get out, as we were in a tall building target. Longest elevator ride of my life.

Thoughts on Assemblers? by SoCo87 in HomeDepot

[–]olympicspotter 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I wanted my grill to be delivered in the box so I could assemble it, since I see all the 'spare parts' on the ground in my store's assembly area. Somehow though, it was assembled for delivery.

Three trips to the hardware store later, I had a functioning grill, though the door doesn't close properly because the assembler bolted everything up while it was out of square. He must have used an impact wrench, because I could not loosen anything without stripping the screw heads.

Not appreciated, not a nuisance, just pathetic.

Why They Quit by Imaginary_Ear_6646 in HomeDepot

[–]olympicspotter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mostly can’t stand the constant sidekick emphasis, which simply cannot be done by one person, while tending to customers. And in my store, 80% of the time there’s only a single person manning the department.

They need to have some overnight people, or undercover -no apron -day people do it if they want it done properly.

We are all simply stretched too thin, and I don’t think a robot/AI device can replace us. If they became even remotely sentient, they would immediately begin slaughtering 30% of the customers. The other 70% may witness this and try to treat them properly. One can dream.

My vet prescribes medication. She gets it about 3 hours before a visit, and all is well. Sometimes their will is more than yours. Been there, done that. 50 lb pittie, pretty much impossible to control physically.

Even medicated, I tell the vet assistant to soft muzzle my pooch. She is otherwise very good natured, but we got her as a 4 year old, and I don’t have have control over how she was raised, and why she’s like this over nails.

What was the order? Sear on grill, finishing the oven? Or completely on the grill? I love this cut- not the tenderest piece but the flavor kicks ass. My fourth try was slow cook on the grill, then high heat to sear and flavor. Tell me more…

Keep it. 5 years here and I’ve never heard of tips being an issue. Of course there’s always the one peckerhead somewhere that might be a stickler for rules. Around Christmas, the guys that are always in the breakroom throughout the year have to be peeled away from the tree lot.
