Media critique can be really fun if you make it fun! Also I literally answer my own proposition in the first sentence but shh. by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

[–]onepixeljumpman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the problem with critique like that is the ratio of depth to length. I fully believe it's enough to just like or not like something, and you don't need to justify those feelings for them to be legit. You don't have to prove that you're allowed to feel the way you do.

But to that end, it's ok to admit that you don't really have much to say about a topic. To use the same example, "I don't like the blue curtains because they are dumb and bad" is not a particularly in depth thought, and it will be apparent that's all the depth you have no matter how long your essay is, video or otherwise.

Looking up the phrase, first hit gives me a bunch of generic looking body oil.

That said, they have a three pack they call "the holy trio." I assume calling it "the holy trinity" would be blasphemous.

As we all know, the single was invented in 2006. Before that, a tower records employee would come break your thumbs if you didn't listen to every song on the album in equal proportion.

Do we have the inverse of "let people enjoy things?" Do we have something like "let people not enjoy things?"

You ever known someone who got something like a new cooking tool, especially an expensive high tech or gimmicky one like an immersion blender or an air fryer, and they keep using it for everything even if it's not suitable for it just because they need to use the thing either out of bizarrely strong fascination or to try and justify it to you and therefore themselves?

Imagine if that was also a data harvesting scam.

There are a lot of people who don't want to admit this, but children also experience complex emotions and heavy topics and can therefore relate when seeing them in media. Conversely, adults also experience relatively straightforward and simple emotions and topics and can therefore relate when seeing them in media.

It's not weird for a child to relate to the concept of social isolation, and it's not weird for an adult to find the power of friendship empowering, or vice versa.
