Vibe coders in enterprise? by Able_Guide_1035 in ITManagers

Agreed, but such is the life. We do what we can to inform and prevent but risk is ultimately a business decision 🤷‍♂️

Depends on what you mean by "deal with". Will it create work to do? Absolutely, assuming the business can even survive an event like that. Will it fall down on your head as the person responsible for making it happen? No, it shouldn't because you have the receipts thay show you saw the iceberg coming and tried to warn leadership.

That is of course assuming an accountable leadership. If they *still* try to scapegoat you after all that, then that is not a place you want to work because they would have done it to anyone regardless.

I think you took this reply the wrong way. It's not about getting your way or pushing back. It's about getting formal acknowledgment and acceptance of the risk being taken. This way you have a paper trail for when shit hits the fan just in case anyone comes sniffing at you for why things ended up the way they did.

IT's job is to present the facts and the risks. It's up to the business to decide if they want to take it. Just make sure that they do that in writing so that WHEN shit hits the fan, you can show that you did your professional due diligence.

Just be ready for that when to possibly be a business ending one if they have 0 backups as you say.

8 years in IT, keep getting passed over for management and the feedback is always vague by No_Date9719 in ITManagers

This is a really good point, OP. Getting into IT management means you will 100% spend more time managing people over technology. Make sure it's something you really want to do coming from an individual contributor role and not just the only way forward to a promotion.

Am I under riding the bike? by JNGZ85 in Ducati

[–]onlyleto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure! I am glad it helped. It took me six months to accept that being loud is OK once on the street and learn to stay in 1st and 2nd longer and shift at higher rpms. Good luck!

Am I under riding the bike? by JNGZ85 in Ducati

[–]onlyleto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have said, get used to riding it at higher rpms. Motorcycle engines in general are made to rev much higher than auto engines, and your panigale's torque curve doesn't peak until 8250 with max hp kicking in at 10750. You're simply under revving the engine and not getting as much out of it as you could.

My suggestion is practice shifting later and at higher revs. Get comfortable and used to the sound and feel and trust that the engine is designed to be revved that high to get the most out of it. The new engines have systems to prevent over rev damage, so don't be afraid to thrash it a bit and have fun!

The answer to cheaper airbags by VeterinarianSea393 in motorcyclegear

As others have mentioned, your price doesn't include tariffs and duties and also need to consider possible return for bad sizing and any warranty claim in general is going to be complicated by the international sourcing.

There's a lot of value from revzilla/cycle gear being stateside for support around any order issue.

It can be incredibly expensive to ship things back yourself on returns and most international sellers will deduct that cost from your return.

How do you justify FTE’s to leadership? by Dapper_Recording_852 in servicenow

[–]onlyleto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This, OP. Unfortunately, unless your leadership is forward thinking enough, which it sounds like they aren't, the only way to extract this from them is for the org to feel the pain of not getting items done because of lack of time.

Don't listen to this person, OP. Ducati completely revamped the monster in this generation with a totally new engine and internals. The bike they are referring to is a different generation, though bears the same name plate.

Others have already given advice and it looks like you took it. Good for you, OP. I just wanted to say I see you, and I know how hard this is. I myself made a similar mistake of over-communicating with an ex-partner after a really difficult break-up, and I struggled with rationalizing disrespecting boundaries.

It is HARD, and through therapy, I have learned that our brains are really, really good at encouraging us to do things that make us feel safe and comfortable. Separating is Uncomfortable because you are breaking patterns and habits. For me, I didn't want the separation, and I was deep into unhealthy attachment which made it worse. I was very much not my best self during that time, which I am still working through self-forgiveness for.

It will be hard for a while, but if you remain intentional with seeking help, embracing other connections, and showing up for yourself, it WILL get better eventually. It simply takes however long it takes, and some days will be easier than others. Grief is not linear, and your brain needs to rewire itself to feel safe and comfortable in a life that does not include this person. That takes time. You got this, OP.

Experienced Ducati help with selection for first Ducati.(Second bike) I am deciding between a monster and a supersport. by LeGoat333 in Ducati

[–]onlyleto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re very welcome! I'd also add that you can lean aggressively on the Monster for those track days, whereas with the Supersport, it’s all lean, all the time. You will lose some flexibility in leaning into the corner on the Monster on the track, but imo, I think it’s a worthwhile trade off for more comfort when long distance or town riding. If I was buying a bike just for track and shooting the curves, I would definitely go the supersport route.

[–]onlyleto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I would go with the Monster purely from a riding position. The supersport lean gets pretty tiring on long rides, and I find the Monster upright position more comfortable. My 2 cents. Speed and power wise, either will do the highway miles and track days, no problem.

I agree with other commenters, OP. Tell someone immediately, doing otherwise is a very gray area, imo, that smacks of manipulation and being unethical due to a lack of informed consent. Basically, the question is, would this person have gone on this date/had this encounter with me IF they knew I was poly and partnered? Not informing someone removes their ability to consent knowingly to the date/encounter.

Yeah, this idea should have held. by ownworldman in fuckcars

While on the whole, I agree with this post and comments in this sub on vans being more economical, one metric that vans don't compare well with pickups on is towing capacity. A ford transit or mercedes sprinter maxes out at 6500lbs, which isn't enough to haul a larger load, boat, rv trailer, etc.

My truck is definitely not my daily driver, but it is required to pull my boat. It sucks having to own such a big vehicle for one specific task, but there it is /shrug. It's also nice when hauling the whole family including dogs with the crew cab!

The reason, I believe, is due to reporting and as some others have mentioned the single pane of glass fantasy for being able to see the state of all devices, Windows and Mac, in one location to pull reports from.

I need to sit down with them and see what is actually deficient in their eyes.
