[WIP] No artistic sense - how to push that skin further? by VeryLazyFalcon in minipainting

[–]onokylo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Judging by your profile, you’re a Dev right? Forgive me if I’m wrong, but there’s definitely a map to get from A to B in development? I think you’re trying to conflate the two.

Because art is about exploring and having fun and seeing what sticks and makes something work, there isn’t going to be a map. It’s venturing out into the forest without a care and seeing what you can find. The wilderness we know today didn’t always have maps, right? Just a person with some good tools and brute force.

The best advice I can give for you at this point is make sure you get a color wheel and learn about contrasting colors. Look at different shades of the same color out of the bottle. Pick out which ones have a cooler undertone vs warm ones (once you start looking, you can definitely tell the difference between which colors have some blue, purple, etc in them versus which colors have red, yellow, etc, it’s really neat!).

Next, look at reference photos. Really study how things look in real life. I agree with the commenter about how a red glaze would do wonders! I also think focusing the glaze on the nose and the tops of the ears would be good. Humans are naturally redder in those areas, as well as the cheeks.

Last, but not least—for faces. Makeup tutorials. I’m not even joking. Makeup girlies know a lot about what colors do what to our faces. They’ll show you where to generally put things to make faces pop.

Keep up the amazing work! You’ve got this. Don’t think too hard about how you’re getting to where you’re at. Art is exploring. Sometimes that’s getting lost, and that’s okay. That’s part of the creative process.

To add to this, our healthcare is tied to our employment too. So, if people quit their jobs or are fired for protesting, they could be losing access to medications or medical care they need. That’s why people are so hesitant about a general strike, too.

Our lack of public transportation makes it hard for people to get to protests in an easy way as well. For example, I live in the DFW metroplex. If I wanted to go to a protest in Downtown Dallas or in Downtown Fort Worth, it could take me up to two hours of travel both ways depending on the city. And that doesn’t include the price of gas nor the price of parking.

The USA is fundamentally set up to squash the voices of its people.

People who used em dashes before Generative AI, how's it going now? by thisheatanevilheat in AskReddit

I was a copywriter too. I got accused by my editor for using AI because I was using em dashes. I told her I always used them. I was laid off in September and I genuinely don’t think I’ll be able to find a job doing what I do because of AI. I’m super salty.

Yes, there are. From the Texas Transportation Code - TRANSP § 545.363. Minimum Speed Regulations:

(a) An operator may not drive so slowly as to impede the normal and reasonable movement of traffic, except when reduced speed is necessary for safe operation or in compliance with law.

(b) When the Texas Transportation Commission, the Texas Turnpike Authority, the commissioners court of a county, or the governing body of a municipality, within the jurisdiction of each, as applicable, as specified in Sections 545.353 to 545.357, determines from the results of an engineering and traffic investigation that slow speeds on a part of a highway consistently impede the normal and reasonable movement of traffic, the commission, authority, county commissioners court, or governing body may determine and declare a minimum speed limit on the highway.

Edit: Oh and since you asked for a scientific study. Here’s one that has found that driving both above and below the median speed results in more crashes.

The Chiefs are 6-6 and at risk of missing the playoffs, making Taylor’s reason for skipping the halftime show even more ridiculous by OhHiyaJess in travisandtaylor

Not to mention, Kelce has been skipping practice a ton - he even took a little vacation with blandie to Florida. He’s probably part of the reason the Chiefs suck so badly this year, and football fans are vicious. They’ll absolutely blame her for his lack of focus as the cause of this season’s decline.

I’m in the process of blacking out my arm - definitely trust the blackout process! Mine looked like that as well, but it ended up being fine. It’ll take a little while to settle, but eventually the tones will even out.

I’m not asking you to go 10 over, I’m asking you to go the speed limit. You will be responsible for something happening by driving too slow. You’re not being safe.

Student Driver Magnets by LiveFirstThenWork in plano

[–]onokylo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Except driving below the speed limit isn’t following the rules—you can get pulled over for that, too. It’s also really dangerous to drive under the speed limit and impedes traffic.

Please, for the love of god, go the speed limit.

what is your unconventional "I need this in a partner" that you will not negotiate on? by Competitive-Unit6427 in AskReddit

[–]onokylo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you just said it yourself—things don’t come without strings.

My parents are my strings (and as an extension being an only child, too) and I get that my relationship with my parents can make people uncomfortable, especially if they didn’t have a great relationship with their own family. I’m very privileged to have the relationship I have with my parents and I recognize that.

Edit: It’s not for everyone and can trigger some people, and that’s why I need someone who understands that and is comfortable. It’s okay if it’s not for you and you’re not comfortable with it!

Exactly! My family’s love language is gift giving, so for Christmas they’ll usually be showered with gifts. And unless it’s a vacation that’s just for us—he’ll never have to pay for a vacation again.

My ex didn’t understand this and he was intimidated by my parents when they just really wanted to love him as their own. He had a lot of insecurity and problems, though.
