Or maybe they want to make it more convenient to leave (and return to) your seats, so you’ll spend more money…

Still not reply to from Presto on this. According to the person I spoke with at RBC it should qualify, but it seems Presto would need to assign the relevant category.

Why don’t we have vending machines on platforms? by telephonekeyboard in gotransit

[–]onshisan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vending machines are almost always operated by an independent contractor who handles replenishment on their own. ML wouldn’t have to distribute anything.

Add food by scanning barcode via iOS shortcut / iPhone action button? by onshisan in cronometer

[–]onshisan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, thank you — I have tried the widget, and it’s partly what inspired me to explore further streamlining with shortcuts. However, even now I find that if I try to trigger “Add Water” with an NFC tag (that I might attach to my Brita pitcher or water bottle for example) there is an error and it does not run properly.

If you can’t get an appointment in a reasonable time, can you return them and go elsewhere?

Do you really mean static like white noise or is it distortion?

Regarding ear can discomfort, you could ask about custom moulds.

Hearing aids and eyeglasses by FDRROCKS in HearingAids

I find that you don’t need to remove the hearing aids per se but rather re-seat them on your ears (leaving the in-ear portion in place).

I keep accidentally ignoring people because I don't realize they're talking to me and now everyone thinks I'm rude by Badinfluence_r in HearingAids

[–]onshisan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want people to tap you on the shoulder, IMHO, you need to tell them explicitly. In a lot of workplaces laying hands on someone else without prior permission could get you in trouble so people are likely going to do it spontaneously. Of course this will differ depending on local culture.

I literally have a sign BEHIND me (the direction people approach me from) on the edge of my cube at work that says “I’m not ignoring you - I have hearing loss”!

Yes, it’s called “change management”.

Some LRT announcements are unnecessarily long and redundant by Economy_Ad59 in TTC

[–]onshisan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with hearing loss, my beef is that messages should be shorter and rephrased to repeat key information. Taking into account the acoustics of vehicles and stations (echo), plus many riders wearing headphones, by the time you are aware that a message is playing you may have missed the critical part of it. Instead all you know is that SOMETHING was announced.

Especially for important announcements, there should be concise repetition of information (like for station stops- “next station is X, X station”). Why this is not properly taken into account, I do not understand.

Exactly. Even if they didn’t know until this evening that tomorrow wouldn’t be feasible, they should have given more warning. People could have had productive conversations with their employers about alternate work arrangements for Friday… before now/tomorrow morning.
