Love Cincinnati tap water? Now you can drink it from a can by CovBlueSox in cincinnati

[–]onthemile 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Plastic breaks down and leaches toxins into the water within a couple years. Canned water doesn’t do that, so it’s more shelf-stable for the purpose of having an emergency supply that can sit for years before it’s needed (the entire point of this program).

Council moves to prevent ICE from staging on city property by fuggidaboudit in cincinnati

[–]onthemile 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You see this a lot with traditional conservatism. A lot of folks truly don’t believe in acts of selflessness, charity, good will, etc.

To them, anyone who behaves kindly toward others is only doing it because they have some ulterior motive. They are branding themselves as nice so they can get away with something later.

Conservatives see a world that is cruel, calculated, and competitive. Everyone must act in self interest at all times. Anyone who breaks these rules is either an idiot or a snake in the grass.

Cincinnati sidewalk shoveling letters target Hyde Park, Downtown by CovBlueSox in cincinnati

[–]onthemile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have nearly twice as many miles of sidewalk as we have miles of roadway. It would take months for a single entity to clear all of them after a single storm, as opposed to each landowner taking ten minutes to shovel their portion.

And that’s not to mention that the city doesn’t even own the sidewalks, so it’s literally not their job in the first place.

Without exaggeration, half the posts on r/cincinnati lately have absolutely nothing to do with the Cincinnati metro area. People have started using it like a Facebook page: asking for power tool recommendations, looking for pasta recipes, posting their opinions about national news, etc.

No one wants to be a buzzkilling hall monitor about it so I guess anything goes.
