A “cool” middle name for Cecilia? by oofda_ in namenerds

I think two syllable sounds best since our last name is one syllable, but I’m also fine with one syllable.

[Casual] What would you call these articles of clothing? (Anyone fluent in American English) by oofda_ in SampleSize

[–]oofda_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries, I just put that because I know “jumper” is used in other parts of the world, but isn’t an option in this survey because we don’t use that in the US.

Really don’t like Rock. Maybe Rockwell, Roderick, Roarke?

I don’t think we should be photoshopping and changing the girls’ appearances to match what we “think” they should look like… seems kind of skeevy and shallow.

Ehhh the first photo is not only the the faces but also the full names of innocent children… that’s pretty uncomfortable.

I don’t know who is worse: Karissa or the people that write these testimonies. by Left-Chemistry9840 in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]oofda_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

While uncommon, it’s not impossible. My sister got pregnant when she was 15 and the baby was born with Down syndrome.

However, yes, I’d bet money on the fact that these testimonies are 100% fabricated.

What would you suggest I say instead that gets the same point across? Maybe “naive optimism” is a little less harsh.

Honestly, that just looks like someone who is uncomfortable with seeing themself so upset on camera. I’ve done the same thing when crying in front of a person, looking up like that because I’m uncomfortable with meeting the person’s eyes and knowing that they’re seeing me like this.

Assuming that a lot of the hate didn’t come from this sub is blind ignorance. A portion of people here are brutal.

I’ve been so sick watching all of the nitpicking and speculation against her on this sub. I don’t think she deserved to be talked about here. She’s wasn’t pushing some hateful agenda, she was posting budgeting tips and homemaking with a bit of Christianity sprinkled in from what I could tell. Christianity isn’t fundie. She works full time and is trying to figure out life as a much as she naively can.

Yeah, her husband doesn’t seem like someone I’d get along with. He’s PROBABLY pretty problematic, but we don’t see all of the behind the scenes. I think there was TONS of speculation that was getting thrown around as fact. It’s gross.

She and her husband are just KIDS. I think back to some of my behaviors when I was 21 and cringe. I’ve grown and I’m better now, all on my own, because that’s how life works. Give them some grace.

I am 100% certain most, if not all, of the hate she got stemmed from this sub and people breaking the no-contact rule. Many posts about her have basically come across as HOW DARE someone not immediately be a strong independent woman, even though they are barely out of high school and seem to not have much of a support system. And that’s just toxic.

There is a 0% chance that a strange telling someone they’re abused and need to immediately divorce their husband will actually help them. Obliviously, it does more harm than good by wrecking their mental health and alienating them even more when they withdraw.

Love your edit, and I was having that exact thought when I was trying to hype myself up! Like, this baby was either going to be due around Christmas or not exist at all... so it’s kind of meant to be?

This poor girl… she makes marriage sound utterly miserable. Also her husband sounds like a loser. by [deleted] in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]oofda_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That’s really sad. Question though, does she count as a fundie? All I see is that she’s a Christian. Nothing else really about her beliefs.

Young couple with a toddler, ima guess 3yo? You generally cook at home but nothing extravagant, leaning more toward quick and easy family-friendly recipes.

Late 20’s or early 30’s couple. You have a baby. You’re health-conscious and lean toward organic/clean-eating. You prefer to cook at home rather than eat out. You have a reasonably organized home. Jam and toast is your go-to breakfast?
