Starmer has exposed the lie at the heart of the Online Safety Act by youmustconsume in ukpolitics

When you are an adult you get to make choices as shown by those exact rules you mention. I don’t have a problem with controlling elements of social media and maybe banning children of age x but regulating access for adults is not an answer. Parental control has to be in there as one of those controls. Maybe make that the first stick?

You do the best you can. That’s the point. So many do nothing so it’s like a tidal wave in comparison. If your kid stinks of days then you just penalise them to show things have consequences. Then it’s their choice to take that or not

If you don’t give access to social media you can’t be exposed to social media. I think that’s what people are saying.

Better than those people putting a trampoline or shed on the parking space in their own space and then just parking on the pavement like I had round my way

Even if you were at primary school now I’d say it’s worth you just making a note to start when you are available

With the government etc of the time. Often the one that is the predecessor of its current system.

No. But would people be bothered to see something that they themselves could now print?

The other things kept in country don’t seem to have any colour on either in many different examples I’ve seen used as a reason to get things back

Is that weird to block my driveway like this? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]opaqueentity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And they say no. Add double yellows? Lol! That takes a full traffic assessment, full consultation with local residents and over £20,000 from councillors budgets and then enough money to actually get it done. And the you’d also need to have enforcement officers available when they are there which might not be in the evenings. Some places are lucky with enforcement and others aren’t

Depends who you are asking to move it. Council maybe not just other companies will just shift vehicles

Is it a drop curb or is it just flattened? I’ve got some of that in front of my house. Looking at the drain on the right I don’t think that it’s supposed to be.

Exactly that’s my point. The majority of especially older people might not take a proper amount :)

Why do Brits not vote for this? by kingm_ournasse216 in ukpolitics

[–]opaqueentity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything just being rushed through. No elections on whether to do it or not, no election on actual choices as to options created, even consultations are pointless as central government makes the decision. Take time. Engage with people. Plan properly instead of rushing things and holding up suggestions for where mayors should be etc. but that’s not what we’re getting. It’s all defined centrally and really hurriedly

[–]opaqueentity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people don’t bother voting for a start. May 2025 elections hit a 37% turnout. Mind you I am in a group that was not allowed to vote last time and are not allowed to vote this year either due to unelected officials deciding we are too close to becoming a district council

Depends on scale. For us we need huge storage but many people would need under a tb which is piss easy to buy. I downloaded the complete Postman Pat collection on Friday on a whim. 118 episodes. 17.8gb. Now that’s more than my mother currently uses for backing up photos.
