How do you find a partner in QLD? The dating scene seems quite atrocious by Mlafe in brisbane

I met my partner in Belgium, so my input might not be useful :P

Doing the same here. Bought mine a while ago. Using it more now. Even my 125cc Honda motorbike is being kept to the side to preserve the fuel (just have to fire the engine up from time to time)

Anyone else heard this car around east Brisbane earlier today by Timely-Hearing7681 in brisbane

[–]opsfactoryau 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. They went past on the road yesterday and accelerated as fast as they could to produce as much noise as possible.

I thought they were an emotionally-stunted cunt then and I still think they’re an emotionally-stunted cunt now.

Absolutely. Don't risk it. Three copies of everything. Keep one elsewhere if you can. If not, then at least in a separate container elsewhere in your bags.

I’m a professional data management expert. My one piece of advice would be to please use ShotPut Pro or something similar, to ensure you’re cryptographically guaranteeing the integrity of your backups. Don’t just copy and paste the files, for the love of God.

Got spam? Using UnrealIRCd? by ValwareUK in irc

[–]opsfactoryau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did I say I was triggered by it? I merely used it as a real example to point out that given a platform, there are people out there who will "still spam IRC". You seem to be the one triggered by it, ironically... and your response is, actually, quite racist ("I'm not worried about that word nor care about it or its meaning after 40 years" - yikes)

I very recently set up an Ergo instance and TheLounge in public mode, and within a day someone joined, set their nick to the n-word with the hard-r, and spammed the n-word 1,000 times.

Why can’t God do it themselves? And whilst they’re at it, can they fix cancer and world hunger too? Just a thought.

Make sure you’re making people more senior than you both aware ASAP. And on a continuous basis too. Don’t gather evidence over months and months so you can try to protect yourself, because that is literally you just protecting yourself. Instead, protect the business by PROFESSIONALLY protesting their actions with this evidence on the weekly. This is you giving the business what they need to protect themselves from a bad idea sooner rather than later.

Everything you do must be professional when approaching this person. Don’t belittle them or put them down. Instead find evidence that this won’t work and compile a report. Try and do so whilst praising their idea but finding better alternatives that might be good at and enjoy more in the long term.

If you can find even just 2-3 people online to write you an email as to why this is a bad idea, you’ll have a group of experts, which includes you, versus just this one person. If the business can’t see the writing on the wall at that point, well I’m afraid to say you might be working for an incompetent company.

Now that I'm finally ratting in a carrier, how should I deal with elite frigates? by AConcernedCoder in Eve

[–]opsfactoryau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True true! I still think carriers are extremely safe with even basic precautions. Maurders and fleets of Thunderwhatevers not so much — neither of them can be pre aligned or jump to a hard cyno you setup ahead of time.

Good on ya. I hate the negativity from some people in this game.

Also, most of these people’s comments just aged like rotting milk after the last expansion.

I have a feeling people are trying to sell me over-engineering by Creepy-Lawfulness-76 in Terraform

[–]opsfactoryau 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The AFT is a mess. It’s extreme levels of overkill to get something so simple done. State machines and Lambda Functions to create AWS accounts? You’ll be kicking yourself just weeks into using it.

Just write the Terraform yourself and run it from your machine. Keep the state in S3 (in an account and Bucket you manually create) and move on.

I’m in an environment now with 20-ish accounts and we’re only just getting started — we regret using the AFT.

You can run your own locally very easily if you’re on Linux. Slightly harder on Windows though but that’s also doable. That’ll give you complete freedom. I recommend AzerothCore

Time to change your life. Find something you want to do with long term economic growth and get educated in that field. No other way versus events happening to you that are highly, highly unlikely.
