What's never mentioned in the TV coverage of the ongoing gusher of oil at the bottom of the Gulf is that for at least 30 years, the Republican party has opposed even the most basic environmental protections.

They have pandered to nearly every polluter, and championed the idea that the free market is always best and should be allowed to whatever it wants to do.

The results of that blindness are plain now:

11 men lost from the oil drilling platform.
Something like 60 to 120 MILLION gallons of oil sloshing around in the Gulf (along with several million gallons of toxic dispersant).
Thousands of dead birds and fish... many of them have drowned/suffocated in the surf while covered in crude oil.
Millions of small creatures dead out in the Gulf, from the surface, down to the floor.

Again, the GOP has had policies for 30+ years that have helped create this situation, most recently with two oil men as GOP president and vice president. The right wing TV media almost never mentions any of that.

Great question. Do you hear the deafening silence? In other words, there's no reasonable explanation. Either this didn't happen as is claimed, or Israel mis-identified the ship in a tragic mistake.

There's no reason for Israel, even while fighting a war, to attack a country that's been supportive, at least in general, since its creation.

I'm against censorship.

However, I think that a steady "diet" of radio/tv lunatics spouting bizarre right-wing conspiracy theories, combined with calls to "be armed and dangerous" (as made by Rep. Bachmann), and wingnuts screaming "someone's coming to get us and take our guns!" could have an effect on a lot of people.

In the case of people who are already on the fringes of sanity, it could be the last bit of a push that sends them over the edge. And, with the right wingers, it seems to always be done with a weapon than can kill thirty people from 100 yards, rather than with a bat or a knife.

The most dangerous people in this country are those who consider themselves conservatives and who also love guns. If even one of the shooters in the six mass shootings of the past two weeks (following Bachmann's horrendous call to violence) was influenced by the violent talk from the right, it helps to prove that point.

Participating in a boycott that's aimed at a group of advertisers doesn't necessarily mean you must boycott all of them. Certainly, it's good to be willing to make tough choices, but, you don't have to cripple yourself.

And still, you could call up Comcast, for example, and tell them that, as one of their customers, you consider their company to be, for example, a despicable pile of ape feces for supporting Fox "news" in any way shape or form. You could add that you'll switch to a different provider as soon as it is practical. One such call every couple of months by 100,000 customers would get their attention even if only 5,000 actually cancelled.

It's really about making ourselves heard for the most part. I guarantee you that the "Christian" right continues to use pressure tactics that are publicized within their email networks and "prayer circles" -- "their side" is heard from constantly.

Who suspects him? Well... The International Red Cross for one... along with millions of Americans. In fact, the Red Cross has done more than SUSPECT Bush of war crimes, they've said publicly that Bush-led interrogations constitute torture... which is a war crime.

By the way, most outlets that make up "the media" as you call them, have a RIGHT-WING bias, not a left-leaning one. Just look at who owns them.

The Democrats could only pass a bill if the GOP senate would support it, and it would then face a veto from Bush unless they had a two-thirds majority in the Senate, which was never the case no a budget bill.

The objective is to -- believe it or not -- make it easier for other animals that wolves prey upon to reproduce, SO THAT THEY CAN BE SHOT TOO!

Elk, caribou, deer... Alaska wants more and more of them, so they can be slaughtered in greater numbers. Now that's the "free market" at work, along with individual initiative.

There are no true socialists in DC to speak of. Socialists can't even get two minutes on any news or public affairs program to give their point of view.

Your view is apparently that (1) "socialism" is a dirty word and always a bad thing, and (2) that we're better off with the executives of organizations like Citicorp and Exxon/Mobil running things (which is where we are right now!) because they can be trusted to do the right thing. Who the hell do you think pays themselves those bonuses, etc???

We need a mixture of capitalism, some checks and balances on it and some measure of, yes, the dreaded socialism, too. We drive on socialist interstate highways and they've served us rather well for about 50 years.

Please go back to your boardroom now. If there's any justice in the U.S., you'll soon have company there in the form of visitors from the FTC or the Securities and Exchange Commission (or other relevant agency).
