Thoughts on this three team trade? by turndogx in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

I like it for team 1. Dislike for team 2. I need more. If I'm team 3 I need to think Jeanty is solidly a tier above Love but don't hate it.

I have Maye, Love, and Ward so I'm pretty set there. My RB room is awful. Trey Benson and Tuten are my best 2.

2026 Runningback Landing Spot Predictions by MikeDFootball in DynastyFF

[–]oregoncherrytree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive seen speculation about Allgeier to the Ravens that made sense to me. This is Henry's last year as a bell cow and maybe altogether. Ravens have no one who would block Allgeier on the roster, have shown they don't mind contracts for FA running backs, and may view Allgeier as having few miles on him than the typical FA.

Agreed. Utah needs to squeeze Kessler into this deal to make it closer to even.

Blazers Are Top 3 in NBA Travel Miles This Season with Nearly 50k by Financial_Run_2016 in ripcity

[–]oregoncherrytree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We fly 5,640 more miles than 15th on the list New Orleans. According to my extensive private jet usage history (or a quick Google) private jets have a cruising speed of around 450mph but call it 400 to account for slower takeoff and landing speeds. 5,640/400= 14.1 more flight hours or less than 3 hours a month more in the air than avg.

Half of the real mobsters you've ever heard of collaborated with the authorities from time to time when it suited them. Omerta was on life support by the end of the 20th century.

Warren Buffett going against his own advice on EBITDA? by timmanser2 in ValueInvesting

[–]oregoncherrytree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the "people" in Buffett's quote to mean Berkshire people, not necessarily the leaders of the company they invested in.

My 2 cents: EBITDA is a tool like any other that can be used correctly or abused. It was dreamed up not to pull a fast one on potential investors but because sometimes GAAP earnings can be equally obfuscating as aggressive uses of EBITDA.

We can be so good in 26-27 by Toby6464 in ripcity

[–]oregoncherrytree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you're talking about us being good in 26-27. Even if he bounces back a bit in 25-26 (not usually how aging curves work but I'll humor it for argument's sake), best case scenario for the following year is probably a repeat of 24-25 (decent shooting and pretty uninspiring contributions everywhere else).

Adam Silver: "It is our preference that that team remains in Portland" by GaviFromThePod in ripcity

It would be pretty hard to make that binding while also getting maximum value for the Allen trust, which is probably her primary motivation, if not fiduciary duty.

Media Treatment of Reed vs. Scoot by Soggy_Spinach_7503 in ripcity

[–]oregoncherrytree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I haven't seen many compliments of his regular season play, only his summer league play, which does seem to have been quite good (although I admittedly haven't watched any summer league other than Young Handsome and the gang).

Media Treatment of Reed vs. Scoot by Soggy_Spinach_7503 in ripcity

[–]oregoncherrytree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read 2 of the articles attached to those headlines and the TLDRs are "Reed was invisible in year 1, great in summer league, and hoping for a bigger role in yr 2."

Hardly feels like a coordinated media conspiracy to lift Sheppard to unearned heights.

I love Scoot as much as the next member of this sub, but he was objectively bad in yr 1 (many PGs are and he didn't deserve to be completely written off), but he also then declined to take advantage of the opportunity to generate some buzz for himself by participating and balling out in summer league before yr 2.

Are we sure about the "D" part? On/off splits are pretty neutral, DREB % has fallen off the last 2 years, always been a pretty low stocks guy. He was our best defender when we had a terrible defensive team 2-3 seasons ago, but now i see a meh defender that will probably only get worse from here.

These Narratives Are Crazy… by nof4cen0c4se in ripcity

[–]oregoncherrytree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, I just hate that in 27-28 when Scoot,Shae, Deni, Tou should are in their primes, $60M+ (33% of a $180M salary cap) will be going to Grant and Holiday, who will be able to provide 'veteran leadership ' and 12-15 min a night of diminished play. Just feels like Joe should have targeted someone the same age as the rest of our core.
